Not the band, for you old folks. Lol

These temps and humidity are extreme and find myself sheltered inside all day.

I do open the garage door every once in a while and fire a few rounds with PCP's and back inside.

My brother is a logger and a roofer " one tough cookie " and told me today that the shingles were so hot, they were sticking to his fingers.

How many are dealing with this heat and how are you coping  ?

I am hoping to beat the heat with some boat spray this weekend. Here it seems to be nice all week, but then storm on the weekends...

I feel for your brother. I remember Iraq being well in to the 125* range and I am in full gear. As soon as you sweat, it literally dries right up. Now I get to be stuck inside my home office in the AC...

I feel for you guys getting hit with that, especially @Glenn as the PNW is really not use to that.

Here I am complaining that we're gonna be in the 90s again starting Saturday...but I hope to get out once or maybe even twice before that happens and I have to hermit it in my AC'd house.

It has been the hottest it has ever been where I live in the PNW and I have been taking my boat out and still fishing. The bite has been really good but I have never sweated this much in my entire life.

Didn't realize that many residents in the PNW didn't have or didn't require AC in their homes.

Those with RV's are actually living in them because of AC at the present.

Must admit, we're not at those extremes but upper 90's is still very uncomfortable when you add humidity.......it shall pass.

I nearly burned the palms of my hands on a roof yesterday. I always remember gloves about halfway up the roof and the gloves are in the truck

I’ve done that too, on steel roofs.
They’re no fun to work on, I need it to be dry to fix the chimneys ( usually why I’m up on the roof), but that means the sun is out and they’re basically one big sloped frying pan.
And if by chance they are a bit wet, then you basically have a big slip and slide that ends abruptly, and often quite a bit off the ground ?

When you get those first few days where the wind is hot, the saltwater fishing here really heats up.

44% of residents in the PNW have AC, and only half of those are window units, so that means less than a quarter have central AC.  They were interviewing residents in Portland on Monday and some were saying that the internal temperature in their apartments was approaching 100 degrees.  Thats uninhabitable.

I have a feeling that AC will be added in many homes up there after this.  The northeast is broiling now too with temps approaching 100 but I think most residents have AC there.

We had a nasty heatwave here the first two weeks of June.  It was 90+ degrees and bone dry for almost 2 weeks.  Its the earliest heatwave I have ever experienced living here in MN.  I have lived here since 1993.  I can recall 2012 being almost this bad in terms of heat and dryness but apparently 1988 was worse.  I basically just sat in my air conditioned basement for days on end.  River levels here are approaching all time lows.  It has improved lately but I see more heat on the radar by the 4th now and beyond, and not much rain.

Extreme drought, extreme heat...this is becoming a very serious situation in many parts of the country, especially the western half.

Last night was the hottest I've ever been in the PNW. Inside my studio apartment, the temp was 93. I ended up going downstairs and turning my car on for some reprieve before heading into the oven around 2am.

I live on Lake Oroville in Northern California.  It is a State reservoir so the water goes to water crops, drinking water and hydro electricity. We are in another draught and our lake is usually the one that the major news uses when showing the effects of our draught.  The lake is at about 30% of its capacity (900 feet when full,  currently at about 680 going to about 620 by fall and will have to shut down the hydro electric plant at 640) and only one boat ramp open. That one boat ramp has a launch ramp that only one side can be used and room for one boat to be launched not using the ramp. The parking lot has room for about 40 trucks and trailers, the next parking is a couple of hundred yards away.  The lower parking lot is filled by 7 in the morning and an absolute zoo by 10 in the morning with fishing boats coming in and wake boaters and houseboat owners trying to get out. This will end shortly after July 4th when they close this ramp due to lake of water.  They are lowering it about a foot to a foot and a half a day.

What does this have to do with heat? It has been over 100 degrees every day for the last couple of weeks and is going to stay that way through at least the next 10 day forecast.  Possibility of dipping down to 99 maybe one day next week. It is hot and tempers flair,  especially at the launch ramp. Our swimming pool temp was 92 today.  I turned on the hose to try to cool the water,  not much luck. Water restrictions are already in place. We usually have a warm summer, but usually not until the end of July and August. At least ours is a dry heat. Sorry,  had to throw that in.

Where I live in Michigan it’s only 84 degrees, but the humidity is like 70% so running wasn’t very fun today.

I'm in SC.

Today was in the mid 80's. But it did drizzle a little this morning.

Its suppose to be about 89 degrees the next two days. Then about 76 on Friday with some rain.

We are pretty humid down here though.

I've about had my fill of the heat for the year. We had a call the other day for the FD for a rollover accident on the interstate. On arrival we find the vehicle laying in the ditch on the side of the interstate. While wearing full turnout gear we start to evaluate things, and find there is no patient inside the vehicle. This lead to what was quite a long, and very hot search of the entire area trying to find a possible patient. It was at the end of that call where I officially decided I had enough of this heat for the year lol. I actually had an opportuniy to get out fishing the next day, and decided I'd rather stay in the AC and get some stuff done in the house.

For once my sister is hot in Oregon and I'm just fine here in Calif. Bay Area. We still have no water though so hmmm.... I mean my local creek literally dried up last week, and I fish it a couple times a week, easily.

True. My house is WA state doesn’t have it or need AC. Can’t believe we hit 106 yesterday and it was over 100 since Sat.

I can take the heat or the cold. I even worked on my yard in the ? degree weather but I also know how to take care of myself in such conditions.

So what do you do after such heat during the day?

Go out in the evening believing that the bite should be good and catch this

So far, the biggest of the season, and this is a huge bass for Western WA.

I will make a formal report on it later.

Heat? What heat? The only heat I feel is the heat I’m putting on the bass, lol. J/K

Absolutely right, brother. I was sweating like a pig fishing Saturday evening but I certainly didn’t mind when I met up with a purty hawg, lol.

We've had really mild temps lately, barely getting into the 80's. It's been a nice change of pace from the normal high 90's to triple digits with 100% humidity we normally have this time of year.

Yup, after the last triple-digit heatwave 10 years ago, I invested in central air - and a robust one at that (built for Arizona summers).  However, I hadn't anticipated the power-grid here to fail under the pressure of fans/AC/refrigerators running nonstop.

Had a number of power failures in my hood.

I also had elderly family members here harboring from the heat (I'm the only one with AC). So the power failures were not welcome!

Previous all-time record was 103 degrees...it hit 118 at my house yesterday.  Absolutely crushing previous records.

Roads buckled, tar patches melted....good times.  NOT!

Temps dropped by 20 degrees today....and it's STILL in the 90's!  Whoa.

Climate change is real - it whacked us upside the head this week just to let us know who's in charge.

Here in GA the temperature has been in only the mid 80's so far this year. Back in SC we spent our summers in the mid to upper 90's with the heat index at 100-110 for weeks on end, so I find this GA weather rather pleasant. It was brutal to fish in that weather, but at least we could come home to AC.

Minneapolis average year gets 13 days of 90 or above - we hit that mid-June...with no end in sight with more 90s coming this weekend. We're on track for a record breaking summer - and it's one record I really don't want to see broken

To see climate change - just need to look at this..

Ya - we had a couple cold snaps, but the trend is for warmer than normal across the board

There's not many cities in this, but you can get the charts for other places at https://www.climatestations.com/

The 90+ chart above is from the MN-DNR web-site - https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/climate/twin_cities/listings.html

Pretty oppressive in eastern PA. 95/100 range. Was out this past weekend but we were not to that point. My plan for this weekend was to do Saturday (lake) and Monday (river). I believe we have some heavy hitters moving in later today and even heavier on Thursday. Will effect both but hope the river will be fish able. Lake condition may get better. Stained higher water level sometimes works out better for me.

You guys stay safe in the heat and have a great holiday.
