Lew's. But if you want somebody to do the work, send it to BPS rod/reel repair or contact DVT. BPS has most parts in stock for most BC reels.

Posted

I tried lews first, have ordered parts several times from them in the past, got an email saying:  “Thank you for reaching out.  At this time, we are unable to fulfill part orders.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

If you would like to send the reel in for repair, that is an alternative option.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.   We appreciate your support of the Lew's brand!”.

So basically saying they have the parts you need to fix your stuff, they just ain’t gonna sell em?

I had a little list of parts I was going to order but the one thing I needed the most was a clutch spring. It’s for a Super Duty G (SDG1XHF)  I had a few spare springs but in the schematic it looks like that reel both legs of the spring are facing the same way opposed to one facing either direction like other reels I have.

It’s the super duty reel that has the flippin switch. I found an old forum on *** I think it was where a guy had a couple break on that same reel so I guess it’s common on them.

Just call Lew's and tell them what you need. They'll get you sorted.

Este.

When you call, ask for reel repairs.  He'll drop the part in the mail and won't charge you.

Can someone tag DVT in this thread for me to see if he may have the part or have a supplier? I can’t find any info on how to tag someone in a thread. Thanks

All you gotta do is type the @ symbol, followed by the user you wish to notify, like so:

@sheaww200571

@Delaware Valley Tackle

The forum software has a typeahead feature that shows you a list of user names. This list narrows down as you give it more characters to work with.

Do not put a space between the symbol and the username.

I will give this a shot. I called several times yesterday but have been unable to get anyone on the phone. This is really aggravating considering I have invested several thousand dollars worth of their product and they want me to send my reel off to them for who knows how long for a 2 dollar spring.

Well I got someone on the phone this morning. She basically said the same thing I was told in the email, they are not taking parts orders at this time. She offered to give me the address to send the reel to (which is in Dallas Texas). I asked if I could get a phone number she said she was unable to do so.

I don’t have that part here. Lews has been responsive in my experience. My guess is that they’re hold onto whatever parts inventory they have for in-house use because back orders are horrible in every industry now. Look at some ABU schematics and see if Pure Fishing can send the part.

I work in Dallas every day, Did you get the address? I could swing by and pick it up and toss it in the mail for you. I run events and drive for Coca-Cola so there is a good chance I'm close one out of the five work days.

What reel do you have?  What parts do you need?  It's possible to find some individually and some will cross over to other Doyo products (Abu Garcia).

True this. I couldn't tell any difference at all between a Lew's (I think it was an LFS?) and an Abu Revo SX. Same everything except for appearance and spool. And I won't swear that the spool was actually different except for appearance maybe.

like everyone else, I'd guess they are having supply problems. They probably have enough parts to keep the reel mechanics working, but not enough to sell right now.

I have another good report on Lew's Dallas Service Center.  Just got off the phone.

First off, they are Not taking parts orders, as reported.

However, they Do want to help.

My oldest Super Duty G, four years in the salt, is showing rusting on the brake magnets.

(ordered new Ray's Studio magnets through Ali Express)

Spool bearings, handle bearings, no worries here, because none are original, and all are salt rated.  Plus, I keep my unshielded spool bearings flushed with fresh oil.

There are only four original bearings in the reel - worm shaft (x2), main drive shaft, and roller bearing (clutch).

Especially the worm shaft and roller bearing - the possible condition of these tax me.

The lady on the phone tracked down all four bearing sizes for me, so now I can order salt-resistant (HRCB) replacements (without taking it apart first to measure).

My guess is if you send that reel in for repair they will replace it with a new one. That’s the way they operate in my experience. Excellent customer service.

Ok guys just wanted to update you on this. After not being able to get any parts at the time of this posting, I was aggravated and just put those reels in a box in the garage. Fast forward to March of 2022..(8 months later). I was cleaning out the garage seen the box and decided I would call lews up..or actually (Ratter Outdoors) in Columbia South Carolina is who you’ll get now a days. Explained to her the situation and she says oh yes you’ve waited long enough just send me the list you need and I’ll get that to you. So I’m thinking awesome I knew it was just a fluke deal last time when they told me no..so I send her the list of parts I need and she reply’s and says ok now all I need is the purchase dates and I’ll get this stuff sent out. I couldn’t figure out why they’d need that but I went ahead and dug through old boxes and emails to find the purchase dates on the couple reels I needed parts for. I send her the dates and immediately she sends back a generic email with contact info for the repair place they use in Dallas. I was completely confused. I thought she was messing with me. I said what do you mean you literally just said you were about to send them?? She said oh well those reels are out of the warranty period. So basically they will not SELL you parts unless your reel is still under WARRANTY. Unbelievable..I guess the old days where you call lews phone number and ask for the parts guy IN MISSOURI are long gone. I didn’t even reply back. I did leave several voicemails and emails to the repair place but of course I’ve gotten no response. I’m sure they don’t make money selling parts so they’re not interested either. Looks like regardless of how small a problem, If you own lews reels you’re gonna have to send it off and pay their 3rd party service center to get it fixed. One of the reels they wouldn’t sell me parts for because it was too old was a 350 dollar Pro Ti purchased on 7/27/20..just something to think about.

Had a very similar experience with Lews since the company changed over , I will not be purchasing any more Lews products moving forward.

Basically saying parts inventory is low and they need to save them for warranty issues. If you send it in I'm sure they will do it at a fair price

That was in June of last year. Now they are absolutely willing to sell you parts for your reel as long as it’s within its warranty period. Which seems completely backward to me, because if it had broke while it was still under warranty why wouldn’t you just send it back and get it done for free..vs buying the part and doing it yourself?
