Only 5 mins from the house and it has a kayak launch dock that doesn’t look to get used much. This could be good or bad. Meaning no one thinks to fish it, or there are no fish worth catching. Fingers are crossed for the former… There are two fishing piers on the North end but there doesn’t appear to be much bank access anywhere else.

I’m waiting on my kayak to arrive next month so I am starting to scout different spots for when I finally have it. I really like that island and there are several lay downs and brush around the banks. Pond looks to be extremely weedy on the bottom, but that’s not any different from the retention ponds I usually hit up. All in all, I am pretty excited to give it a shot. Will follow up once I can check it out.

That would be my luck Koz! Haha. I may actually go check it out tomorrow just to see if anyone is fishing it. It is a public park out in a more “country” area so I have little feeling it’s untouched, but the only way I see to fish anyplace other than near the piers is in a canoe or kayak. This is the kind of place that convinced me to put my boat up for sale and go the kayak route instead.

You never know unless you give it a try . I have found some great spots over the years that no one fished . I have also opened my stupid mouth about some and they were fished out in no time .

Looks like miller’s pond park in rocky point???

You got it. Worth bothering with?

I’ve had zero luck out there. Seen a few folks catching bream but that’s about it. The whole place is covered in some sort of grass that I’m unfamiliar with…so fish something weedless.  Also, there are a ton of copperheads around that place so be careful launching your kayak

Thanks for the info. Maybe I will hold off on that place until later in the fall when weeds start to die off and the snakes aren’t as active. Those things are everywhere now and I try to be super careful walking anywhere. Guess I will take my chances with the gators and cottonmouths in Greenfield instead. Haha. At least I know there are some good fish there.

Anytime. If I get out there this fall I’ll let you if I have any luck

Fish this at night with 7” max/Power worm ribbon tail w/ 3/16 oz bullet weight from both docks and ramps. Fan cast the entire area.

If bass are in the pond you should get a strike.

Agreed. This place just happens to be a public park on a main highway. It’s not so secret.

I never really thought it was a super secret spot. Was just a pond I saw on Google maps and thought it had potential. There are few actual secret spots around here. Actually happy that STPC recognized it and shared a report. Saved me some time checking it out for myself when I could be fishing more productive waters.

Let us know how it goes. I have a place like this nearby that looks like a bass fishing postcard. I've only seen other kayaks in there once. I tried it a couple years ago. Got one bite from a dink. I loaded up and went to a state park. Got exactly one bite there too. I hope your day is better than mine. Good luck.

Ehhh gotta be careful with spots that seem "undiscovered" by anglers. It's like gambling almost you could find a new honeyhole or there's a reason why it seems devoided. Either way take a chance man!
