Stopped at my local BPS on the way home from work last night. I knew the Zoom aisle was a little thin, but shocked when I hit the terminal tackle aisle. Very few hooks on the pegs. Hardly any rods. They do have some reels in the cabinet behind the counter that are not on display. They had two Daiwa reels, a Tatula Elite and a CT, out for customers to play with. I asked if they had the Elite in anything but 8.1:1 and they had SV's and and SV TW's in the cabinet, as well as another Elite or two. Ended up getting a 6.3 SV TW.

Stopped in to Walmart to get line.   Two spools of 50lb braid, and lots of the uber-cheap stuff on the bottom row.  Otherwise, completely empty.

I hear ya friend. TW takes at least three weeks to ship no matter what I’m ordering. My local Walmart is easily the weakest in terms of fishing inventory in general. They have never had much of a selection at all and what they do have is just enough to aggravate you into wondering why you even bothered walking into the place. That being said, my local mom and pop tackle shop has a very generous selection of zoom and reaction innovations baits….when they actually have stock. They had more stock during COVID last summer than they do now and it’s not even worth the drive.

Edit: I did just realize that all the Walmart’s near me that don’t have a body of water near them to necessitate a huge fishing selection for some reason have large fishing sections in their sporting goods departments. My Walmart has a huge lake within swinging distance and they might have a third of what the others do. Not bare shelves, but just a small fishing section. Weird.

I had an order all set at Academy. When I went to submit it it says "We are not shipping to California at this time"

I'm guessing it's a CA Prop 65 thing (worst regulation ever written). Dang I was mad but probably not their fault.

I went to a tackle sore today.  They seemed to have a lot on the shelves.  They had a wall of Zoom stuff which surprised me.  I didn’t pay that much attention to what they had.  I found the buzz baits I was looking for.  The lady behind the counter got a phone call and I heard her start complaining that she didn’t have anything.  She said she didn’t have any Zoom stuff that anybody wanted.  I thought about taking a video of their inventory to keep on hand.  It would give me a good idea of what not to use on the area lakes.

I haven't ordered from BPS in ages but they would always block me from ordering anything lead under an ounce because it's not legal here in MA. I'm guessing Academy can't or doesn't want to deal with coding everything that's not legal in CA. Their website is a little weak. One of the things I wish they would improve.

I figured this problem would rear its ugly head again this season. Last year was worse from what I’ve personally seen at the retail stores that I frequent in my area. Luckily I stocked up this past winter so I am not going to run out of anything this season.

I just got 6 packs of flat worms last week. The Dredgers just depends on the colors but there's quite a few of them out there. Same thing with the Norman's, lots out there but might have to stray from your favorite colors. Haven't bought any electronics or rods this year so I'm not really sure how difficult those might be.

I stopped in Dick's in Hattiesburg, MS, yesterday and picked up a WP.  The plastics aisle was pretty bare but I was surprised to see a good selection of hooks and weights.

Can't help with the flat worms, got lucky on those but they're supposedly starting to get caught up if people would stop panic buying them when they find them in stock.

That is odd.

In Ontario we just had our lockdown restrictions lifted. I went to the Bass Pro Shops in Vaughan and the shelves were absolutely packed with everything!

Stark contrast to same time last year before bass season opener with bare hooks. I even noticed our BPS started to stocked lews combos!
