Looking at switching gears with my fishing gear. I'm really enjoying fishing with UL gear and what to get some some other light gear. I'm thinking of doing hi-vis mono to flouro leaders. What do you like for hi-vis 2, 4, and 6lb mono? Also, what colors do you like? I have Yo-Zuri Superbraid in a nice bright yellow, but that even seems difficult to see at times.

Thanks and have a good one!

I have been using Runcl mono 15lb Orange (Amazon) on two setups (casting) since last year.  So far so good.  It's easy to see and good line but like all mono, it's short lived.  It comes in other colors > green, gold, yellow and orange.  They all appear to be hi-vis.   I have had no issues with fish seeing this line or missing strikes.  Even though it's orange, I can't see it under water any different than clear mono.  I usually don't recommend off brand stuff but I have used it enough to say it's worth checking out.

For lighter tests, I use Stren Original in yellow. I can see it better at different angles under different light conditions compared to other hi-viz mono lines.         jj

Sufix Elite Hi-Vis yellow - even this 'one-eyed wonder' can see it at a fair distance.

Are you saying longevity wise or the the hi-vis "color" doesn't last long?

My hi vis mono (Berkeley) faded waaaaay faster than my hi vis braids (kastking, runcl, cheapies.) And if you’re doing to leader I recommend hi vis braid to leader.  But monos just don’t seem to last.

I think line diameter plays a large role in hi-viz line.  I've gone through several different colors of 10# braid from several different makers, and I'm starting to come to the conclusion that I can't see any of them very well against the rust colored water I fish.

Just longevity wise.  The color stays but most if not all mono for me doesn't last long but this stuffs not bad.  The only mono that last long for me is Sunline Defier at twice to three times the cost. No hi vis option there, only camo green.

Original blue Stren, but honestly, I've never used any line under 8lb. test so I don't know how visible the lighter weights are. Under a blacklight at night, it looks like rope.

Original Stren hi-viz gold.  I've used decades old 4 and 6 lb stren and it worked just fine.  I know that the shelf life is supposed to be just a few years, but when stored in a cool, climate controlled environment, it seems to work just fine.  Anyone know what the failure mode for old mono line is supposed to be?

I like Sufix Siege Neon Tangerine on my baitcast reels.  I would prefer Elite on spinning reels, but it does not come in that color.  It does in Hi-Vis Yellow, but I don't recall seeing any so I don't know how well it shows up.  The Neon Tangerine show up very well for me.

I have some Big Game in Solar Collector that I am going to try.  It is a VERY bright green on the filler spool.  Don't know yet how well a single strand will show up on the water.
