Spinning or casting rod?

The Daiwa Tatula Elite 7'6" TAEL761MLMFS-AGS rod will handle all of that very well so long as you are fishing your tubes on an open hook. It is just a touch light for stupid/texas rig tubes, but will do it if needed. The rod will launch ned rigs, and is pretty d**n sensitive for a longer rod. Tackle Trap currently has them in stock according to their site right now.

Medium light spinning rods. Any chance you have knowledge of the p5 Landsat? The whippet is too light for what I plan to use it for

The landsat is a great rod.

Lightweight and sensitive.

To me, its more on the medium side of med light side for a spinning rods. I use mine for shakeyheads, neds and drop shot. It could probably handle light tubes and smaller senkos. I wouldn't throw a weedless 5" senko on it. I dont feel it would have enough power to slam a larger hook into a bass on a weedless 5" senko. Maybe a thinner worm like a trick worm would work with it. For my senkos i prefer a more true med like the 7' med expride.

Asian Portal has many nice bass spinning rods in stock, including

Shimano, Daiwa, Megabass, Major Craft

Though note their current rod stock is a preponderance of UL

The Megabass Levante F3-611LVS 2-pc looks interesting.

If you go down the brands one at a time, can find what else they have - look for the yellow stock tags.

I have only held the Whippet in hand only because it was such a cool unique rod.  I was out for either the Super Destroyer or the X-Bites that day and not a spinning rod.  On the Landsat, I would see the suggestion above.  If you can find it, the Windbuster would probably handle an unweighted senko better.  For me, I use a NRX 803S for these techniques.

If youre going to $500 you should go to a store with a lot of rods on display. You will never know what you are buying without seeing it. The more expensive a rod is, the more likely it is to later be found in a BST or eBay listing. Best to actually handle the rod before buying it.

I would agree.

I purchased the landsat second hand without ever holding one. There are no stores around here that carry megabass.

It took me alittle bit to get use to the handle.

At first I didn't like it at all. I was even planning on getting rid of it.

Glad I kept it though. I have learned to like the handle and actually enjoy using it. So much that I have two identical combos.

In that price range no way I'd buy a stock rod.  Have one built.  Bet you will find more blanks in stock than complete rods...

That budget i would buy the Phenix bass Recon 7’2” medium and then buy another one and keep the change.

I think biggest negative to having a rod built is no resale value. At least with a name brand you know you can sell often for close to what you bought for if you maintain high end equipment. Pick on up on sale and sometimes you can sell for what you paid if you decide you don’t like it.
