Ultralight reel

So I have a new panfish series rod on the way.  Want to pick up a new reel for it.  I was looking at a few but looking for some real world experience suggestions.  
I’ve hooked into larger bass, pike and carp while ultralight fishing so I’d like a reel with a bit of oomph.   My current is a sienna fe 1000 and it works great.  Just wouldn’t mind trying a step up.  I also have a daiwa QG750

reel will be going on a st. Croix 6’9 UL panfish series 

I have been scoping out the following:

 

Shimano Sedona 1000

Shimano Sahara 1000
daiwa fuego LT 1000

daiwa legalis LT 1000

daiwa revros LT 1000

piscifun carbon x 1000

 

 

any recommendations?

Although not on your list, I will mention I use a Shimano Nasci 1000. Its around $100. It has served me well for several years. I hook into the occasional catfish and of course bass, while bream fishing and its never been a problem. 

 

Might be worth considering.

I have the Piscifun Carbon X 1000 and highly recommend it. It fishes above its price point in my opinion due to the fact you’re rarely paying full price. I also have a bps carbonlite 2.0 in 1500 size and it’s a great reel, looking at the Daiwa Legalis Lt to replace a older bps pro qualifier soon.

Good to hear about the carbon x.  I like that it’s so lightweight. Any flexing in the reel? How’s the drag if you hook into something bigger than a sunfish?

I have the carbon x 2000 and it holds up well, but it’s still not metal. Definite flex if you get a catfish or something beefy. I’ve caught a 3lb bass on it no problem with some patience. The drag was fine. But I wouldn’t want a 5 or 6+ to try. I don’t think it would hold up. By contrast I feel my president is equal to the challenge.

I have a sahara 1000 on my UL and its been great little reel. Looks good too.

I will say too that I have the viper x 2000 as well and while they have different specs…they’re the same to me. The carbon x was not worth paying more for what it is. The viper feels sufficiently the same to fish.

I have the 2000 size as well and have caught quite a few bass on it and though they weren’t 5+ lbs I felt no flex reeling them in. My 1000 size has only caught panfish but I still feel it’s drag is up to the task of handling a couple pound bass. I personally feel if your drag is set correctly and the rod can handle the fish (my rod is a bps panfish elite 6’-9” ultralight)  it might take a little longer but I can bring in most any bass under 5 lbs. For comparison I’ve caught plenty 1/12-2 lb bass on my carbonlite 2.0 on a light powered rod and on my old pro qualifier also on a light powered rod and feel if I swapped my carbon x 1000 it would be more than adequate for the job. Lastly all of the small reels have 4 lb test on them and my 2000 has 10 lb test.

Why?  In that price range the Shimano Vanford 1000F would be a much better and lighter choice.

I don't like the colors on the Vanford which is why I chose the Stradic.

I was looking at the Stradic.  That’s why I said that. Lol.  

In Canada the Stradic fl is $300 and the vanford is $340. Not looking to spend that much for mostly sunfish and perch with the occasional bass and pike.

I recently ordered two spinning reels:

Piscifun carbon x 3000 and Kastking zephyr 3000. Though not ultra light, I figured they would be a close competition to each other. Though i haven't fished them yet, since they just both came in this past weekend, I am quite impressed for the money.

I did put in an order for a carbon x 500 and 1000 size from Aliexpress last night. I want to compare them to my other small carbon framed reels- daiwa tatula, procyon, stradic ci4+, vanford.

Of the reels the OP has listed, the only ones i haven't tried are the fuego and carbon x.

Weight wise, i think the carbon x 1000 has them all beat. It's supposed weight is 5.7 oz. Thats right there with the daiwa tatula 1000 and stradic ci4+ 1000. Longevity wise, I'm not sure of. But it does just great reviews.

I'm sure the fuego would feel like all the other LT daiwa reels with the carbon light frame. With my daiwa LT reels, if i closed my eyes, it would be hard to distinguish which reel i was holding. They all feel similar.

The same with the shimanos. From the Sedona up to the Nasci, they all feel similar.

Too me, an ultralight reel should be lightweight. Therefore of the group, i would try the carbon x.

Take a look at the Kastking Zephyr.

Picked up a Revros LT 1000 earlier this year to throw micro jigs and it fishes well above the $45 I paid for it. It's not as smooth as my Stradics but for the $ difference it's great. It's handled several big channel cats and lots of bass on my 6lb FC leader that hit my jig.

The revros is actually a very good reel.

It has a thicker frame than the other LT style reels, hence the heavier weight. I believe its graphite and not the carbon composite material. It also feels a little smoother due to its heavier frame.
