Timely Braid Opinion

As he said, which I’ve been saying on here for years...braid is a more “technique specific” line. 
 

He certainly doesn’t need me to agree with his opinion on braid and using leaders, but I completely do.

Less than one percent of my baitcast reels have braid.  Twenty percent of my spinning reels have braid.  I happen to prefer mono or co-polymer.

So far the presentations I have used Braid for fresh water bass fishing is heavy vegetation where the line cuts through it at Clear lake and the Delta, and weightless Senko for strike detector in cover. 

My go to lines for decades is straight 10 & 12# FC with jigs and Mono/Copolymer for everything else; 5 lb UG Max, 7 FC Sniper  finesse and 11 lb & 25 lb Armillo top water big Swimbaits. Don’t agree with the line stretch theory, it’s more to do with coefficient of line drag in the water, it feels like stretch.

I agree with what everyone is saying about FC. It is definitely less visible than braid. If the issue is stretch in the line, FC does stretch more than braid. But the whole purpose of BFS fishing, as far as I know, was not originally throwing smaller lures, it was really about using lighter weight, smaller gear, to catch bigger fish than was possible in years past. Because we now have strong, light gear and strong thin PE lines. If stretch is the issue, all you need is the thinner, softer rods used for BFS. I’m not saying anyone should ditch what works for them. Body mechanics matters more than it gets considered. I fish better with a softer rod and stiffer line. A lot of guys do better with stiffer rods and softer line. A lot of guys don’t. For me, it might just be that I started out with a soft, honey fiberglass rod.
