If something weighing ounces can do that by 45 then humans couldn't possibly do real work with their hands

Hell, people get ligament issues typing all day, writing all day etc.

Doing real work like myself as a union electrician and business owner, trenching, bending conduit, pulling heavy gauge feeders in all day and even twisting low gauge wire will wreak havoc on your body in your later years and can become noticeable using fishing combos weighing "ounces" on a long day on the water, so the lighter the better.

When you can afford high end light weight stuff you buy it without even blinking, it's just a pleasure to fish with vs cheap equipment.

The fact is most, not all but most people that think expensive gear is stupid or not worth it simply don't have enough disposable income to purchase said items, and try to use the macho excuse to make themselves feel better about limited funds.

I have some Dobyns Fury rods , but mostly KK, all my reels are KK. I have never had any problems with any my of the rods and reels. I try to keep everything budget friendly.

My combos cover the spectrum with prices.

Most of the combos I use for horizontal baits are in the$150.00 to $300.00 range. Most combos I use for bottom contact and vertical presentations are in the $400.00 to $500.00 range.

I am not unhappy using the cheaper rods and reels. The extra sensitivity, balance, and reduced weight of higher end gear is a lot more pleasurable to fish with.

I golf too ... retired ... don't make what I used to ... but when I did I bought golf clubs that were and are clones for half the price ... don't miss a beat ... company I buy from around 20 yrs. or so ...

fishing is the same for me ... I like to get deals and save money ... and have always enjoyed the sport with what I use ... if you spend more and that floats your boat that's OK by me ...

good fishing ...

Here’s one of my favorite setups a Shimano SLX $85.00 pre tax on a $50.00 pre tax Wright & McGill rod. I also love color matching my rods and reels.

As a former union carpenter and now Teamster local 786 I take exception to this statement. I’ve never used the excuse of being macho for the gear I purchase and never will. I think your comment makes you sound like a show off. Whether you’re a janitor or a brain surgeon hopefully you take your job seriously and consider it “real” work.

My comment was in response to macho man " ironbjorn"a few posts above me, who implied that jobs that don't require working with your hands not real jobs, which is why the first sentence in my post says what it says.

My apologies then, it was a knee jerk reaction. Personally I could care less what anybody spends on anything. If you’re happy that’s all that matters.

No worries, I understood that you didn't see the other individuals post.

There is definitely a shaming of high end gear as well as low end.
