Otter17 Posted June 15, 2021 Posted June 15, 2021 Hey guys, Im looking for the best way to keep my Texas rigged weight in place. Im definitely done with the tooth pick way. And I’ve seen many different methods on the internet, from the rubber Boober stops, to peg-it system, and so on. What method to you most recommend that with hold the weight in place pretty good? Thanks 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted June 15, 2021 Super User Posted June 15, 2021 I tried pegs...didn't like it. Now I use rubber bobber stops for everything...even my slip-bobber setup. 2 1 Quote

I use sinker/ bobber stops also. The ones from BPS come in three sizes based on line test, but others available do not. Would like to try other brands, but most come in only one option with no reference to what line size works best in them. Are they basically one size fits all? Joe 1 Quote

Joe No - searching around I found a few brands that have different sizes...based on line diameter...these are the ones I got https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08RDZHQ53/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 15, 2021 Global Moderator Posted June 15, 2021 I use bobber stops 99% of the time when I need one. I’ll use both when using a 2oz. punch weight. Mike 1 1 Quote

Thanks Sorry hijacking your thread. I use bobber stops with bullet sinkers. But will use pegs for cylindrical weights when mojo rigging. 1 Quote
Otter17 Posted June 15, 2021 Author Posted June 15, 2021 Thanks everyone. I’ll pick up some of those BPS ones. Will the small ones work on say 8lb. Fluoro ? Quote

Super User J Francho Posted June 15, 2021 Super User Posted June 15, 2021 Toothpicks or rubber T-pegs work for me. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 16, 2021 Super User Posted June 16, 2021 Usually none unless I'm punching & the it's 6th Sense 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 16, 2021 Global Moderator Posted June 16, 2021 Bobber stops or rubber pegs with fluorocarbon. I'll use toothpicks with braid though when I'm not as worried about damaging the line. 1 Quote
li_bass_hunter Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 6th sense are the best for bobber stoppers for pegging. I only peg when I’m flipping heavy cover or punching. Too many people wanna peg all the time when In reality you’ll catch more fish unpegged 2 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 My setup from top to bottom. 1. Bobber stop 3-6" up line from hook. 2. Bullet weight. Whatever weight for whatever I am doing 3. One lightweight chrome or gold bead 4. One glass bead. Whatever color seems appropriate for conditions, including clear 5. Hook/bait I picked this up from a buddy several years ago. Having those beads in there gives it a little *click* sound. I don't know if it actually does much but I've caught a lot of bass with this set up. 1 Quote
Super User Bankc Posted June 16, 2021 Super User Posted June 16, 2021 I just tie a uni knot with some thick mono onto the line and use it as a bobber stopper. It works and it's cheap. I also use cactus spines instead of toothpicks, if they're available. I find the cactus spines do a better job of holding, as they're more evenly tapered. But I don't often come across those near the water. Quote
Super User GetFishorDieTryin Posted June 16, 2021 Super User Posted June 16, 2021 I rarely peg my sinkers unless I'm throwing a Mojo, but the right size "Peg It" with the right weight is the best way IMO. To keep real heavy weights pegged you may have to add an additional bobber stop and that will keep it from moving at all. Quote
