buckmaster27012 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Purchased a boat and came with set of non puncture cull tags. was using them this past weekend i had three fish to die on me. prior to this i've only this issue one time, these fish were around 3-4 lb range. i kept fresh water coming in, recirc was on, and also had the oxygenator on. the water was plenty cool and the fish only came out of about 10-15 ft of water. these cull clips dont like to stay on very well unless you clip them a certain way so i'm just wondering could that cause fish to die. i've went ahead and ordered accu cull elite clips to change them out with and see if this will fix the issue. the clips that are on the ones i have right now are like these below. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Seacured_Fishing_Clip_My_Lip_Culling_System/descpage-SFCML.html dont want to have the issue of fish dying again was just wondering if anybody else had issues like this with these style clips. Super User NHBull Posted June 14, 2021 Super User Posted June 14, 2021 This is the first time I have heard this. If the boat is new to you, did you clean the wells. I have seen die after not cleaning wells after winterization. Cleaning chemical residue also raise hell with the system Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 14, 2021 Super User Posted June 14, 2021 It’s not the clips. Clean the live wells using 3% Hydrogen Oxide a cup to a gallon of water and drain, fresh water rinse. The Oxygenator may also be faulty. You can add 1/2 cup of 3% over the counter Hydrogen peroxide to 15 gallons of water to add dissolved oxygen to the live wells to assure survival from low DO.
