throttleplate Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 started fishng at 3:00 pm, wife was crappie fishing and she hammered the blue gill, crappie and sunnies all day into the night. Me, well i went for bass and i threw spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, big swim baits on a keel hook, lipless and caught zero, nada on my favorite bass lake. So now what? and this is all from the bank, i put on a suspending jerk bait because, why not? and this was a 110 size and wham, i got bit and got her in. Casted out again and wham got another 3.5 lb and cast out again and get it deep and then tug it a bit and let it sit and this time i seen the lure suspending and i watched as a bass came up to it and looked at it and i didnt move it and it slammed it for another 3.5 and then it all stopped for the bass that is. I couldnt catch a bass after the jerk bait died off, i went 2 hours with nothing throwing the spinner, chatter, so i changed up to a big berkley kingtail 8 inch red worm on a keel hook and finally caught a couple small bass dragging it through the weeds and pads. Then i went another hour with nothing, throwing tubes, wackey rigs, neko rigs and no takers so now it was 9pm and i thought i will try top water so put on a white frog hollow bodied pad crasher nothin, put on a black frog and now its 9.20 and finally it hooked up and hauled in a decent bass and then i lost 2 as they got me hung up in the weeds. I kept at it and caught 2 more bass at 9:40 pm. I thought heck im goin throw on a el-choppo wopper plopper and caught a bass and then i caught what i think was a rock bass, can you make a geuss, rock bass, crappie? 2 Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted June 14, 2021 Super User Posted June 14, 2021 That’s a Rocky Rococco for sure. Bass up North this week have been glued to the underside of the thicker weeds. Hard to coax out. Sounds like you did what you could. Other option that’s been working are smaller jig worms down in the thick stuff/openings and ripping out. Hard work but does work too. 1 Quote

After arriving home at late night, its an hour and 15 minute drive, and putting all the gear away i just cant sleep, i am so jacked up from the day and believe me i am constantly moving, wading, climbing up embankments and sore and stiff when we get home from the lake but still i am just to wired to sleep. 1 Quote
