Hi. I recently picked up a rod to keep in my car for whenever I'm out and about and feel like a little shore fishing. It's set up for Ned rig... 1000 series spinning reel, med light, moderate, 10# braid with 6# floro leader.

What other baits would this rod fish well? I'm in the Chicago area, most of the lakes and ponds around me are pretty stained and have a lot of weeds. I have a rebel crick hopper popper I used to use that I was successful with on another setup that I think would work, I'm looking for others which might work. Also, I'm not opposed to catching other fish besides bass... Just looking for something fun to play around with.

Thanks.

That rod should be able to handle most trout and panfish presentations, so stuff that’s less than or equal to 1/4oz. It should also handle finesse swim baits and dropshot rigs well

Ive wondered the same because I have almost the exact same setup except a heavier leader. I have two M spinning that I use for everything else finesse and pretty much stay with a drop shot on one and wacky/Neko on the other. So if I were to want to use the Ned combo for something else i dont really know what I would use it for.

I can use mine for drop shot, small boot tail swimbaits, grubs, and wacky rigs.

Seems like they'll handle pretty much any presentation that takes a light(er) wire hook.

My "finesse" rod is a 6'9" medium-light with a fast tip, so I reckon that's pretty close to what one would normally consider a ned rod.

I use it for ned rigs, small paddletails, wacky rigs, neko rigs, shakyheads, stuff like that.
