spinner-bait slinger Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 are there any disadvantages using Zoom in muddy and or stained water because of the lack of scent? Quote
Super User Bankc Posted June 13, 2021 Super User Posted June 13, 2021 I don't think bass key in much on scent. Besides, I don't think plastic lures give off much scent. It's mostly a taste thing so they'll hold on to the bait longer, giving you more time to detect the bite and set the hook. I use Zoom plastics all of the time in stained water, and they definitely work. 1 Quote

Super User LrgmouthShad Posted June 14, 2021 Super User Posted June 14, 2021 Zoom z hog has worked in chocolate milk water for me. It doesn’t make sense to me. That thing just glides. Natural color too. No, scent isn’t a big deal to me anyway. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted June 14, 2021 Super User Posted June 14, 2021 Zoom makes some of the best soft plastic lures for bass fishing. 3 Quote

BigAngus752 Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 You have multiple senses and you would never rely solely on one sense even if your other senses were diminished for some reason. IMHO the worst thing we can do is get hung up on a single thing. We all want to find “the deal”. There are many days on the water that I have to remind myself that it’s the totality of the circumstances that I have to take into account. “The Deal” today may be a combination of many things. You don’t know until you throw. 1 Quote
river-rat Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 I have used Zoom products in heavily stained to muddy water for as long as they have been available. You can always apply scent if you prefer. 3 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 14, 2021 Global Moderator Posted June 14, 2021 OP I think you’re overthinking it a bit and giving scent to attract fish and illicit a strike too much credit. Mike 2 Quote
greentrout Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 Zoom is my favorite plastic worm ... still ... I do bring along Berkley Power worms ... Good Fishing ... Quote
flatcreek Posted June 14, 2021 Posted June 14, 2021 My boat is full of Zoom baits and always will be as long as I can get em.The Zoom warehouse is a 20 minute drive from the house and I’ve not heard any truth to the rumor that their being bought out.as for scent, the bass love em with or without. 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted June 15, 2021 Super User Posted June 15, 2021 I’ve been using scent for as long as I can remember. First one being baitmate years ago. Been Kick’n Bass for awhile now. But in all honesty I really can’t say that it truly works or has that much of an effect. But I really can’t say it hurts either. Some of my soft plastics I don’t even put it on. Maybe I really don’t even need it at all. I’d be fishing a Black or Green Pumpkin worm I’m your situation. Scent or no scent. Quote
