Super User FryDog62 Posted June 12, 2021 Super User Posted June 12, 2021 I know a few of you use fluorocarbon as a main line for drop-shotting... what are you using (brand, lb test, etc) and what tips do you have to maintain manageability and prevent line twist? Quote
Super User MickD Posted June 12, 2021 Super User Posted June 12, 2021 I use leader grade FC, including fly tippet material. Limper isn't better for leaders and drop shot set-ups. Stiffer tangles less. Leader grade may be tougher than line grade, although some will debate it. I don't think line twist will be any different no matter what you use. I use VMC drop shot rigs with the swivels and use lighter leader for the sinker drop so it will break below the hook. Just replace the lower piece. 1 Quote
Super User GetFishorDieTryin Posted June 12, 2021 Super User Posted June 12, 2021 6 or 8lb InvizX is awesome. 2 hours ago, MickD said: I use leader grade FC, including fly tippet material. what leader material do you use? Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 12, 2021 Super User Posted June 12, 2021 I have two set ups that I use for drop shot depending on how deep I go. For deep water I am currently using 16lb Sunline X-Plasma Braid with 10lb Seaguar Premier leader. For everything else, I like 6lb Trilene XL 100% FC. I have tried others but this seems to be the best balance on price and manageability. I do also like in Invizx. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted June 12, 2021 Super User Posted June 12, 2021 I only have a single DS rig - 10# Sufix 832 to 6# InvizX on a President-25/Fury 702SF Quote
Super User islandbass Posted June 12, 2021 Super User Posted June 12, 2021 Also 6# Invisx. Main line. Only line, 100%. Done deal. The limpness and having the amount of stretch I want is what sells me on it. This is my finesse set up for DS. If I have go up, I’ll using casting gear or 8-10# mono. Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 12, 2021 Super User Posted June 12, 2021 7# Sunline Sniper FC main line or 5# Maxima Ultra Green Copolymer . The drop shot good weight should allow the line to untwist. Just cut everything off and drag 100’ of the line behind your boat at walking speed a few minutes to untwist it if needed. Tom Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted June 13, 2021 Super User Posted June 13, 2021 I use 7lb Sniper and for the most part deal with line twist/manageability by using a casting combo vs a spinning one. When I do DS on a spinning combo I tend to stick to longer, t-rigged worms which seem to spin a lot less. 1 Quote
