Perhaps, but few of us are inclined to write feverish hate letters, and that's what some of these comments boil down to.

Exactly. Everybody can hate...but most of us wouldn't try to ruin someone's life or wish them dead because they like a different trolling motor then we do.

I love Randy Blaukat, yes he can be a bit controversial with his opinions on electronics and other topics but IMO the man is a fishing guru, even as a young guy I can agree that the electronic situation can make the playing field a bit uneven in tournaments. I love his down to earth videos and I believe he is a good teacher for our sport. IMO

I like Randy. But I am a Megabass guy so I like all the Megabass pros. A lot of people have touched on him being "whiney" but if it was me dealing with situations where I had missed out on winning thousands of dollars or issues that are directly plaguing my career I would certainly be sharing them with people too. Professional fishing is not exactly an easy way to make a living and one or two tournaments can be economically life changing.

I use Randy, along with other professional anglers like G-man and Hack, to just gather knowledge, while being completely open-minded.  I don't have to do everything that those guys do and I don't, I just pick and choose what I want to apply.

One thing i find interesting is the comparison of Randy to Swindle, two polar opposites.  They have opposite hookset styles (Randy is tight, G-man is slack), color styles (Randy is all about finding the specific color, while G-man encourages simple), Randy is always trying to innovate with "secret rigging techniques" and different jig types (almost to a fault where he "over-innovates") and Swindle is all about KISS (one single jig for all across the country), and many other things.  However, it's also cool to see how they also have advice that is nearly identical to each other's.  Both encourage fluorocarbon, both are shallow water anglers, both talk about hardships as a professional angler, they both use YouTube as a platform.

I personally don't have enough energy nor do i care enough to be a hater like those in the comments.  I think it's so cool to see how such differing styles can still lead to a successful career in bass fishing and I will always tune in to their videos.

I don't disagree with a lot of his opinions, but I they're just that, opinions. If you put your opinions out there, there's going to be people that disagree with it and let you know about it. More just a statement that I think for his sake and the sake of growing his following because he is a very talented angler that has a lot of knowledge to share, I think he'd be best to stay away from the hot point topics that are mostly opinion based.

I actually think he either read this thread, or was made aware of it, which is neat, and that's the only reason I referenced your post. It wasn't a criticism or a call out.  It's just too coincidental that he opened his vid with the whiney part. That you mentioned "whiney" and he may have keyed in on it is kind of fun too. You may be right that he should steer his ship back to the center if he wishes to grow his channel, but that ever present smile he has on his face tells me he's enjoying airing his personal grievances and industry dirty laundry as much as sharing tips and bait hacks.

He's always crying. I've never seen anyone have a problem with his ideas and opinions. He always rightfully gets criticized for being the world's oldest infant. He loves being a victim.

So watch the vids where he shows tips and tricks and avoid the crying and whining videos.

I think a lot of guys are not used to Randy's in your face style of commentary. Most are like show me instead of telling me. They also peg him up against others, saying, why hasn't he won this or that, which is ridiculous. The big three legends Martin, Dance, and Houston have never won a Classic yet they all have a lot to say on Youtube. Randy also has a lot to say on Youtube and much of what he says makes pretty decent sense, in my opinion.

On the other hand, one truly cannot say with certainty what motivates a Youtube channel. With regards to monetary gains, what's in it for them may indeed outweigh what's in it for you.

put yourself in his shoes, he committed himself to making these videos and i am sure his is as busy or busier than many people who watch his vids.

He has many followers now and he has to keep putting out the vids or he wont last long so i am sure he is time stressed and makes these vids when he can hence the driving in the truck vids, the kids running around the house.....

So what would you guys do if you took over his channel for say 6 months? You are a busy person but you know you have to make 2 vids today, where would you fit that into your day?

Would you do a presentation which takes more time to prepare or would you just ad lib your true feelings and make a easy vid?

Would you talk about the senko for the 6 millionth time, or repeat the millions of allready done vids on how to fish a jig?

Well he mixes it up with lectures about conservation and controversial subjects that allows him to get the vids done and covers subjects that may turn people away or could attract more followers. Like he says if you dont like the channel just unsubscribe.

Too much contrived drama. Fishing is supposed to be fun and relaxing.

Unsubbed from his channel and all his social channels too.

yeah, but great for decorating ideas, I'm redoing my kitchen with recessed lighting on a "natural" manufactured wood ceiling...

I love his vids.  He talks some good stuff. I don’t agree with all of it.  For example, his thoughts on reel drags.  He backspins his spinning reels and freespools his baitcast and relies on solely his thumb.   Crazy talk!!!

but we fish our own game.

If I was trying to make some money with a YouTube channel I for sure would not go the route of less drama.  There's plenty of $ucker$ that will keep the traffic flowing.

Maybe it is because I still consider myself a novice, but I find his instructional content very interesting and informative.

People have referenced his perpetual whining and controversy.  All I have witness are his comments on Johnny Morris stuff, anti-electronics, and eating bass.  What else has he done?  My take is that he did not invent those controversies.  They predate his YouTube channel, but they are contemporary topics of the bass fishing community.  If he chooses to express himself on the topics, there is nothing wrong with it.  By the same token, if people want to flame him in the comment section over his opinions, that is just fine too.  It is the strength of that particular platform in my opinion.

I enjoy his tips and tricks videos, but don't pay attention to the rest. Take what you like, leave what you don't.
