So ive been watching Randy on YouTube for some time between his channel Intuitive Angling and Johnny Shultz channel Fish the Moment.

I find his tips and stories to be helpful and fun...also he just seems like a cool dude and somebody I could fish with and learn from. Now I realize that he has covered some touchy topics and while I'm not saying I always agree with his opinions I agree that he has a right to have them. If people don't want to hear them don't watch his videos.

His biggest deal has been his pushback against technology...things like live scope in particular. Some people say he's just old-school and likes a more pure instinct form of angling I can see that point. Others say he is an old man that doesn't want to change with the times and would rather fight the inevitable I can see that point as well.

What I can't understand is the hatred I've seen in his comment sections or even in forums. People calling him a talentless hack, A joke, even a dumb a#$...and I'm sure worse. Well here's the deal the guy has made a living fishing as a guide and also winning 1.5 million dollars between BASS and FLW. Also he's A pro staffer for Mega bass and had a significant amount of input on the design of the mega bass oneten...considered by many to be that best jerk bait and maybe one of the best hard baits ever made. So to suggest the guy doesn't know anything about bass behavior or catching them is just stupid.

Anyway guys sorry I'm in rant mode tonight...just got alot rolling around in the old noggin I gotta get out. I'm A Randy Blaukat supporter and will continue to be. Guess haters just gonna hate.

I’m not familiar with him but what I do know is that we are living in a day and age where people are really critical of one another, particularly on social media. I too do not like gadgets and gizmos while fishing. Just my kayak, paddle, ugly stick and tackle box. Think we should all just support each other no matter what the fishing style is, so long as we are all following local laws etc.

I like Randy but he really should use a cup and a half of sugar...

He has a tendency to come off as whiney but he's a very good fisherman and has lots of good knowledge to share. He needs to stick to the teaching and stay away from the hot button topics.

I like Randy and subscribed to his channel for his great tips. Then unsubscribed after the constant content on why he against electronics and that's not beneficial to me. We all know he's a shallow water fisherman. He should just let Jonny handle the electronics content.

Seems like an alright guy as a person, but a bit of a luddite and sometimes seems to state his opinion as if it were the only factual truth. It took me a while to warm up to him and I'm still not a huge fan. I'd much rather watch Johnny Schultz walk the walk on the water than watch Randy ranting from his mud porch or while he's driving down the interstate.

If you believe stats, the are 10s of millions of cuckoo birds in a population of 350 million. My unofficial stat is that there are plenty more phony tough guys within the greater population. As far as hobbies go, and compared to the ones that I've had, fishing attracts an outsized proportion of belligerent dumb-dumbs. Ever try to get through the comment section on any of the FB fishing forums?

If you stick your head up above the crowd, and state many opinions as he does, someone is nearly always going to try to knock it off. It doesn't seem to phase him one bit. Besides, so what if a faceless stranger disagrees with what he says on a particular topic, and by extension, with you? Laugh it off, or stop reading comments. Just be glad that the un-asleep crowd hasn't set upon us yet, and that it's just passionately rude like-minded jerks who are making noises.

I don't have a problem with his opinions though I don't necessarily share all of them. I don't care for the vids he hoes in the truck because of the background noise. I guess I don't read many of the comments.

I subscribed to him and like his tips , especially the one where he roughs up   soft plastics to bring the salt out .

Randy Blaukat is a nine-time Forrest Wood Cup Cup Qualifier, and three-time FLW Tour runner up. He is regarded by his peers as one of the top anglers on Tour that has never won an FLW Tour event, including the 2002 Ranger M1 tournament, where he actually accumulated more weight than his closest competitor, but finished second to David Dudley due to the former zeroed-weights format. A 25-year veteran of professional fishing, Blaukat has amassed more than 1.4 million dollars in career earnings in FLW and B.A.S.S. competition. Regarded as a leading voice on environmental issues surrounding the sport of fishing, he has been an outspoken voice in conservation issues for years.

I find Randy entertaining more than informative, and I think covering the "hot topics" and the reactions they entice is the point. It's in essence click bait. I'm not sure if the whole hick in the neck of the woods who dislikes technology is genuine, or a schtick or some where in the middle, but it seems to work for him.

As far as the haters, Mother Theresa could have a channel and have folks with little knowledge or experience in the subject matter post horrible things, it's where we are at right now.

I follow Randy some, don't get to the end of many clips.  I enjoy Matt Stefan's clips as well.

Panda... Those are some pretty "un"- woke comments.  You're due to be cancelled...

I did state that I don't always agree with his opinions especially regarding electronics. So to the guys that say he's a whiner sometimes I can see that. But saying somebody is a crybaby sometimes is totally different then saying they are a worthless piece of...whatever.

Ha yeah I guess I couldn't see or wasn't aware of the greater social impact I was having with my comments. Oh well..if the powers that be banned me for that I guess its a forum I wouldn't want to be part of anyhow!

There are a lot of keyboard commandos that say things that they would never dream of saying to someone face to face.  The internet and more specifically social media gives everyone a platform both good and bad.  The more you put out controversial content, the more you are opening up to negative responses.  I wrote articles for Yamamoto years ago covering why up and coming tournament anglers needed to be very mindful of how they handled social media and that they should really have a separate personal page from their fishing page.  Many of the top level fishermen and women have social media managers that handle it.  I’m sure Randy knows that if he keeps hitting the social media hornets nest with a stick, sooner or later he’s going to get verbally stung.

If we’re honest with ourselves,  we all have a propensity to hate.  For most people it’s politicians and preachers not fishermen.  A while back,  after hearing so much about the Googan Squad,  I went to their YouTube channel to check them out.  I watched about 2 minutes of a video and found it annoying and not the least bit informative.  I thought maybe I had just picked a bad one so I tried another one.  About 2 minutes was all I could stand of that one.  That was it for me and the Googans.  I’m sure it’s just a generational thing.  If you’re in your 20s and people in their 50s and 60s think you’re cool.  You ain’t cool.   I suppose I could watch all their  videos and develop a strong hate for them.  Some people seem to enjoy doing that.   I don’t think it’s healthy.

Randy also loves being a victim. I've lost count of how many videos he's uploaded about being "screwed".

Yep I've noticed that to..that's why I said I understand people being put off or annoyed by him. But being whiny doesn't make you a bad fisherman or person. As long as he is speaking his opinion and not trying to hurt other people he isn't doing anything wrong. Having a different opinion doesn't give another person the right to publicly tear down or humiliate someone else...but that's what the internet is these days I guess.

I agree you 100%. I've followed Randy since the mid 80's. I remember when he pulled the plug on his boat to get under a bridge after the lake came up overnight. As far as the keyboard warriors in their mom's basement, Randy has done more in fishing than they will ever do. Randy's making a living doing what we all enjoy.

I pretty much agree with Randy on the vast majority of his content, especially on electronics and the cost of boats, etc. That said, I'm not paying for a membership to his or any other YouTube channel.

Sadly, it is a reflection of how a certain segment of our society has become, and it seems to just be getting worse, not better. I watch a lot of what he posts, especially the “hot button” issues, because I enjoy hearing his opinion (and others) on relevant topics in the industry. Don’t care for Johnny much, so I simply ignore most of his content, but still watch a few every now and then, especially ones that get mentioned in fishing forums for whatever reason.

Perhaps, but few of us are inclined to write feverish hate letters, and that's what some of these comments boil down to.
