Super User gim Posted June 11, 2021 Super User Posted June 11, 2021 The most recent drought monitor released Thursday, June 10. About 50% of the entire country is in some form of drought. Its the worst since 2012. Additionally, the primary freshwater source for most of the southwest (Colorado River basin) is only at about 50% of capacity. https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/ Quote
Super User Bird Posted June 11, 2021 Super User Posted June 11, 2021 I've dumped 7" of rain from the rain gauge in the past 12 days here in the east. Wish I could send some west. 2 Quote
Michigander Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 Was fishing the first tournament of the season on Monday and that was the heaviest rain I've ever fished in. Both bilge pumps were working overtime. Quote
hokiehunter373 Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 We got 4" in an hour where I live yesterday. Water standing in places I've never seen it on the way home from work. Agree, I wish we could share it with the West Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted June 11, 2021 Super User Posted June 11, 2021 We had a very dry May, but have gotten several good rains already in June. The lake is still 10-12 inches from full pool, but its about halfway back from where it was... Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 11, 2021 Super User Posted June 11, 2021 Here in Missouri, it seems like we've had quite a bit of rain in May & early June. Don't know how much because my rain gauge froze last winter and then it got smacked and it shattered. Hasn't been replaced yet. Weather men on TV say we've had a "close to average" amount of rain fall - I don't know, but it seems like alot to me, but the Missouri River hasn't flooded yet, so we haven't had too much yet and upstream of us hasn't had too much either. The lake that I mostly fish week to week is FULL - maybe foot and a half to 2 feet high. Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted June 11, 2021 Super User Posted June 11, 2021 We have been in moderate to severe drought conditions for a year here. Our local river and ponds are about as low as I've seen...at least in the last ten years. Quote
huZZah Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 It happens. The majority of my state spends every year in “moderate to severe” drought stages. In my area, we’ve gotten a ridiculous amount of rain over the last month and we’re still listed as moderate drought. I’ve never seen lakes so full. (I have walked across 2 of the three local lakes twice in my life cause they were bone dry.) But at the same time, 80 miles southwest is still severe drought and the major lake is only 27% full. ?♂️ Hang in there. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 12, 2021 Super User Posted June 12, 2021 We've been in drought conditions for a couple months. Getting a good soaking as I type this. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted June 14, 2021 Super User Posted June 14, 2021 Bull Shoals is 30" above full pool. The Tennessee River reservoirs are full and the flood gates are open. Regionally we received 6"-18" of rain last week. No more rain expected until Saturday. My flowers are happy! Quote
