Im looking into this fish finder to mount on my front trolling motor.

Have two questions.

1. Is this finder good at marking baitfish / and bottom structure? (My current does not at all)

2. Do I need to buy a special bracket for the transducer to go on the trolling motor? If so any idea where I could buy this?

Thanks.

1. Yes it is a great unit. Had one on my boat for years

2. Buy you a screw clamp large enough to circle the TM housing and mount it up. I, at one time used a small piece of wood placed up against the housing when I was in a tight. It stayed there over a year with no problems. Guess I shouldn't have told you that. LOL

The 565 has one on the highest resolution screens available anywhere. If the transducer is installed properly, it should display returns very well. Even with a basic knowledge of how a sonar unit works, you should see what you mentioned.

A trolling motor mount for the supplied transom mount transducer is available from Humminbird, Bass Pro, and other major boating suppliers.

A more compact transducer made for trolling motor mounting and in-hull mounting is available also. That type transducer can be exchanged for the supplied one by Humminbird---leave it in the package as it comes in the box.

Does you present unit indicate the water depth?

I also have the 565 and it does a good job. Both of the previous posts are correct. I ordered mine and it did not come with the trolling motor transducer. I was reading the instructions with the unit and it told about contacting Humminbird to exchange the transducer for the one you needed. I had jumped the gun and had already ripped the packaging open so I called Humminbird and explained what I had done. The customer service rep I had was very helpful, told me which transducer I needed and told me not to worry, just to pack it up and return it. It arrived in just a few days.
