I fish pretty much fully covered.  Doctors orders.  I wear hiking pants. Two times now I have over heated a tiny bit and was dehydrated. I know this because I barely pee.

I could have jumped in the lake, but I had pants on.  Got me thinking.  What about those swim tights the long distance swimmers wear?  Fashion is a distance, barely there concern. I could wear shorts over them.

they are fully breathable, cool, spf-50….yada yada yada.

I’ll ordered up some and report back.  And I need to drink more often. :)

Plus, if someone is on your fishing spot, you could wrestle them.

I wear the light weight fishing pants with the zip off legs that make them into shorts.  Super breathable and they dry quickly if I want to take a dip to cool off.

Handy things, those shorts (shants?). I used to have a pair and somehow knelt on the slider for the zipper bang-on centered at my left kneecap. The pain was blinding, but it was worth it to go from office mode to party mode that quickly.

I wear lightweight baselayer tights under my fishing shorts when yak fishing for sun protection.  If there is any breeze at all I can pour water on them and evaporative cooling keeps me comfy.  Dead calm days are a different story, but they are going to be unpleasant nonmatter what I am wearing.

The only issue is there is a little strip of exposed skin between the bottom of the tights and the tops of my shoes.  I remember to put sunblock here maybe every third trip, so I end up with a little sunburned strip every so often.

Funny story, 3rd day of a week long trip to Michigan, I ripped my only pair of lightweight fishing pants.  The weather surprised us and was 75-85 every day.  I had jeans but I really didn’t want to wear them because I knew they would be hot.  I had cargo shorts but I hadn’t really worn shorts yet this summer and really didn’t want to get a sunburn.  There’s no way I was going to put sunscreen all over my legs either.  Sooooo, I start going through all of the clothes I packed and there were sweat pants but I knew they would be way too hot, then I ran across a pair of under armour pants that were lightweight and had zipper pockets.  I thought why not and gave them a try.  Pretty nice, but then I realized that since I packed for more cold than summer, they were my long underwear.  I fished for the last 2 days in them and they were comfortable.????

I also fish fully covered, got too much ginger in me to handle sunlight. I picked up a set of sun pants and long sleeve shirt both by Columbia and really like them. I'm barely warmer than just a t-shirt and shorts. And on those muggy nasty days, I feel like I'm a bit cooler.

OH MAN, there goes my lunch!

Most the time I just need a wide brim hat.  If it's sunny, 95 degrees and no wind, I'm not going.

Or maybe just a friendly little hanky wave might run them off?

Remember many years ago when all the rage with teen girls was the stirrup pants? They were tights with a stirrup on the bottom of the leg. Sometimes they'd wear them outside of their shoes.

Anyway. They were tight little things on them. Those same teens grew up, spread out, and they're still wearing the same tights. You've seen them. You know what I mean. It's fine with me. Up to them, but at this time in my life I wouldn't be caught in public with anything like that on. ?

I got a pair of super light-weight, breathable sun pants from amazon.  95% polyester, 5% spandex.  Cross between light gym pants and PJ bottoms.  Got them in gray to reflect the sun.  Wet myself down when hot.  Not the Columbia ones, they are too hot.

Oh boy.. that orange one is something. The long shorts though. Sometimes can't be helped. 42 waist, 29 inseam. Everything's gonna be long. Those tights though... Might make a good crank bait pattern... maybe....

Mostly zeroing in on the Crocs.... I once saw a single Croc floating under boat dock and I beat it to death with a stick.

Dehydration thickens your blood and raises your blood pressure. You're supposed to get 4 quarts/liters of water a day, which is probably more than most people actually get.

I use a one-liter thermos and fill it with water several times a day to make it easier to keep up with whether I'm getting enough water. It's a lot easier than trying to count 16 cups a day.

Room temperature water is much easier to drink than cold water. I can down a liter in a few minutes.

I don't, nor have I ever drank anywhere near gallon of water a day, in fact I don't drink a half gallon of water a year... That's a fact! I had a talk with my doctor at the VA about this very thing about a month ago. Here's what I drink; coffee, about 5 cups of decaf with half & half throughout the day. I drink 2% milk, about a pint+ a day. On a HOT day I may drink a couple glasses of ice tea if I'm working outside but it's rare, once or twice a year. I don't drink pop, booze or sport drinks. I'm 73 now and been like that my whole life. Don't really like water but I will drink it if there is nothing else and I'm thirsty but that's rare too.  Doc said I'm apparently getting what I need from what I drink. I think everyone is different. No way could slop down a gallon of water a day! Fact: Several people have died in the last couple of years from drinking too much water. Fluid intake depends on how hot is,  what you're doing in that heat factor and your own metabolism.
