Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 5, 2021 Global Moderator Posted June 5, 2021 Looks normal to me, definitely a largemouth. Not sure on Florida strain or not but coming from Florida it’s a safe bet! 1 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 5, 2021 Super User Posted June 5, 2021 Probably a hybrid, Florida has lots a sub species. Can’t go by coloration alone, dorsal and anal fin spine numbers, jaw to eye relationship etc. Thinking maybe a Red Eye-LMB hybrid? Tom 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted June 6, 2021 Super User Posted June 6, 2021 The only black bass species that lives in South Florida is the Florida strain largemouth bass. In the Florida panhandle and some parts of Northern Florida you can also catch Suwannee bass, Shoal bass, and Choctaw bass. 4 hours ago, WRB said: Probably a hybrid, Florida has lots a sub species. Super User WRB Posted June 6, 2021 Super User Posted June 6, 2021 The HNatural range of bass species isn’t possible today to maintain. Anglers move fish around and have been for over a 100 years. We have Red Eye Bass, Shoal Bass, NLMB, Florida LMB, Northern/Florida Intergrades, both Northern and Southern Spotted Bass and Smallmouth bass in California where no Black Bass species are native. Super User soflabasser Posted June 6, 2021 Super User Posted June 6, 2021 It is best to learn how to identify the different species of black bass so you do not get confused. Largemouth bass are the easiest of all black bass species to identify. 1 1 Quote
