rboat Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 The lid on my rod locker in my boat, when open stands just slightly past vertical. The problem is if you bump it or have wave action it will fall shut. I have snapped two rods and smashed my hands several times. I want an automatic way it can stay open until I want it shut. I thought about those gas rods used on a hatchback car or van, or some type of spring loaded hinges. The lid is fairly heavy and I need a solution that will hold and not be in the way of getting rods in and out. I looked through the aisle at Home Depot but no real help. Any Ideas or help is greatly appreciated. Thank You Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted December 9, 2009 Super User Posted December 9, 2009 Mine are held open by the gas shocks. You can get them at RV centers or auto parts stores. Quote
scbassin Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 You can get a gas operated one that will fit, at a marine dealer Quote
