Cravin Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 This just came in today, The Legalis got a makeover. The old Legalis is one of my favorite Spinners so I had to get the new one! This Cadence Lux 7ft UL rod throws my Trout/Panfish Magnets the furthest so it got a sweet little reel update. 7 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted June 4, 2021 Super User Posted June 4, 2021 Nice, I might get one for myself too. Quote
optimator Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 I've got one on my Avid X ML. Nice reel for the money. Quote
mrpao Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Any noticable difference between the new model and the old model? Other than color. 1 Quote

Super User ChrisD46 Posted June 5, 2021 Super User Posted June 5, 2021 *I believe the Daiwa Legalis is the best spinning reel for the price - I'll be switching my spinning reel needs to this series . 1 Quote

I've been working late and won't be off till Sunday so I haven't fished it yet. I can tell you if feels really light but too soon to judge. I'll take it and its Older sibling out together and see ........if it will quit raining. Quote
mrpao Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 How is the stem flex on it? I heard the new material is more rigid than the one on the old reel. Quote

Cravin Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 Old legalis 2500 w/ 6# Floroclear & Diawa Presso 702ULFS. I have to force the cast on a Trout/ Panfish (1/64th) magnet to get distance and it seems to like a Crappie Magnet at 1/32nd and 1/16th, Lots of flex with medium back bone to save ripping lips. The old Legalis is smooth and a bit heavier, I but noticed the slop in the knob compared to the new version. A fat bedding Bluegill... kinda looks like a big Warmouth Hybrid. 1 Quote
Cravin Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 New Legais 2000D w/ 4# Vicious Hi Vis Mono & Cadence Lux 702-ULM. I can cast a Trout/Panfish Magnet (1/64th) better that anything I've tried so far... I can actually feel the weight of the magnet on the back swing and the 30 ton graphite is very sensitive. It's a noodle and you cant steer or muscle a small fish out of the grass or anything, especially with the mono, but you can accurately cast which is a first for me with the Magnet. The Hi Vis Vicious was also a first and I know I drilled the hook in a few more fish seeing the movement of the line. I think a light Hi Vis fluorocarbon would sweeten this rig by reducing the stretch and giving a little more control when hooked up. The reel is really light and buttery, The thing feels a bit more refined due to the tighter tolerance in the knob and the 2000 size paired great with the twig like structure of the light rod. To sum it up this is a solid lock on my light tackle and will stay in this configuration as far as I can see. My son took the pics at the pond. He had this in hand when I'd go to the other rod and stated he really like the marriage or the setup and may get the rod too. A fatter bedder. 1 Quote
mrpao Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Those look like big green sunfish. They do hybridize with bluegills though. Quote
Cravin Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 It's got a lot of red breast and green bream in there, So much variety in them it's to hard for me to tell. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted June 7, 2021 Super User Posted June 7, 2021 Nice setup and good to hear that it got tighter handle than old Legalis. I sold mine and got exceler 2000 for that screw in handle. Daiwa using Zaion V on this reel very interesting to compare with my Tatula. The 2000 size is good for both panfish and bass, no need for heavier 2500 size. 1 Quote
