It not really a fishing question, but it’s still interesting to think about. I’d want to go to NH 700 years ago (precolonization) to catch silver trout, an extinct subspecies of brook trout.

Interesting topic but I'd go back a few hundred years and still be fishing my home waters. Only difference would be I'd have one less excuse to explain why I can't catch em

I would go back to the exact day in 1996 when I had the smallmouth of a lifetime break off because I did not have my drag set.  I know the spot and would love a second chance.

I think about that day a lot!  ?

I would go back a year and tell myself to not let another kid catch a 6-pounder when I would’ve hooked him.

Sometime in the early 60’s when I didn’t want to go fishing with Dad.

Northern Door Co (Rowley's Bay) 10 years ago.  This is 30 miles or so north of Sturgeon Bay on Lake Michigan.  10 years ago was before they made a launch public and you had to either stay at the lodge to launch or make a 15+ mile run to get there.  This is where guides would always take people to catch 5-7 lb smallmouth in 4-8' of water for most of the summer.  Last summer when I launched there on a Tuesday, there was a Texas and Arkansas truck in the parking lot.

I was just talking to my fishing buddy about this a couple weeks ago ~ My choices are; The New River, the James River and the Shenandoah River all in Virginia. The year, about 1600 before the colonization of the eastern seaboard. And as long as we're "wishing" I'd like to have a modern jet boat and modern fishing gear. Don't need a truck and trailer cause there will be no roads. no buildings, no dams, no nuttin"

Pluses" ~ No trash, no noise, untouched, pristine  waters.

Negatives ~ Might get your head stuck on a pole.

While I am very thankful for every fishing opportunity I get,

Over 11 lbs ~ 1

Over 12 lbs ~ 1

I would go forward in time. I can't wait to take my son out on the boat when he's big enough and I want to see him catch his first substantial size bass on his own. Seeing that excitement on his face is the day I dream of.

Back to when my grandpa was healthy in his 30s and teaching my dad how to fish.

Yes, I would also teach my dad to catch more fish, and since he didn't catch very much, I think he doesn't really like fishing anymore. If I could help him catch fish, then maybe now he would've liked fishing.

I'd go back last week where 2 good fish were lost, a favorite spinnerbait lost and burned up a trolling motor.

Then jump back in the time machine and advance to see how many more years I have to fish.

I see little imagination in this thread.

I would go back to at least before the last ice age and fish rivers of prehistoric Wisconsin.

Hell even further to catch some dinosaurs.

Go back to my childhood..late 80s threw 90s...and spend more time fishing with my grandpa when he was younger and healthier. We had a fishing trip planned a few years back but had to cancel because he needed surgery and just wasn't strong enough to do it. That was likely our last shot as he is now 90 and was just diagnosed with lung cancer. I know we all deal with this but it doesn't make it suck any less.

I would dial the Delorian to the day before Glenn thought of BR and bop him over the head with an empty bottle of Rheingold, and then run as fast as I could in marshmallow platforms and bell bottoms while trying not to mess up the curls on the perm...

If you’ve had a bowfin in your boat, you might change your tune about wanting to catch dinosaurs

OK, I sense some deeply ingrained childhood issues here that need to be addressed... more so than you already are ~ dressed that is.

bottle of Rheingold,

It was Mad Dog 20/20 for all my college buddies. Don’t have a clue why they drank that stuff, unless they enjoyed barfing in Technicolor.
