That's my old drift boat...the gentleman who bought it invited me out for a day.

My new one should be here in the next few weeks, I'm really looking forward to it.

We hope to see a bunch of them over the next three days...we'll be after them Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Muskie season opened here on Saturday. Unfortunately, we have a massive early season heat wave and its supposed to last for a few days too. I’m afraid that the water will already be too warm by the middle of June (80 degrees) to target and safely release them if this continues.

 

I am fishing in a 1 day metro muskie tournament on Sat, June 12. Hoping it is not 95 degrees out.

I just watched a report by a local semi-pro...according to him, the bass are already moving into summer pattern on many lakes in the metro...post-spawn period was extremely short.

 

I think fishing musky summer pattern would be your best bet.

We're dealing with the same weather 90 miles to your east.

The last two days were brutal, yesterday worse than today, but today's wind worse.

Tomorrow looks like a compromise.

I am also concerned that the heat spike will bump water temps too high to chase Esox...but if it does, we'll chase smallies.

Rivers tend to be cooler than lakes, so there's that.

Summer pattern for bass would be welcome.

Summer pattern for Esox should be "Leave them alone until water temps get below 80°"

...unless, of course, one is planning on eating them, or doesn't care about the resource.

The rivers (and lake accesses) are low here already too. I think we could both use a good heavy dose of rain and some cooler temperatures.

Yep.

...failing that, we have to find spring-fed water, which is tough to figure out until you're on it, and checking temperatures.
