Gluing swimbait to hook

How many of you do this, what glue do you use and when/where exactly do you put the glue on?

I glue my menace grubs to my swim jigs...i use the same glue as @A-Jay.

I’ve never had a bottle of super glue that lasted more than a single use, one of my least favorite products in the history of capitalism 

 

Suffice to say, I don’t use that stuff for anything, definitely not fishing

I glue my TRDs to my jig heads.  I use super glue gel.  It holds all day.  The lock down cap keeps it from drying up for several weeks.

I do it, and I can look at and feel the evidence of the usage on my fingers and think back on my awesome day of fishing.

I use it on a jig head, but on a belly weighted hook, I either add a hitchhiker or run a toothpick through the plastic and hook eye.  Another trick I learned is to place a barrel swivel up the line before tying on the hook, thread your plastic bait onto the hook and then run the hook through the other loop on the swivel.

i will superglue my trailers for finesse and swim jigs, cuz skipping and fast hooksets will sometimes pull the trailer off of the keeper.

I never have, but I went fishing with an elite series guy recently and he dabbed the loctite equivalent of super glue before pushing a swimbait all the way onto a jighead and it caught 30 smallmouth before needing to be replaced. I'm a believer now!!

I use the Locktite super glue gel also. I’ll usually set up a few at home where I can do it carefully, getting the bait lined up correctly and give it some time to dry. Trying to do it in the boat usually sees me glueing the bait to my fingers.

So you apply the glue to the grabber bump area that hold that bait right, before sliding it on?

My problem with super glue is that when I use it on a torn swimbait, which is wet, the water from the swimbait gets onto the super glue dispenser, sealing it shut.  I think the solution is to use an intermediary mechanism for applying it, like some toothpicks.  Put it on the dry toothpick, thus not contaminating the dispenser, and then from the toothpick to the jig, then slide the swimbait into position.  Just have to remember to put the toothpicks into the boat.

I keep saying I’m going to but then never bring it and cuss as my bait keeps sliding down the hook.

Yep, thread it up and just before you push the head flush onto the keeper, one or two drops on the lead. I keep it in place for about 10s by hand to let it set.

I buy Dollar store , you get three tubes . I dont do a lot of swimbait fishing but like them on buzzbaits . Being my buzzbaits are made to hold a skirt I have to super glue the swimbait on . After about a dozen fish the bait is usually ready to replace .

The downside to using glue is when they bite the tail off. Yippie! Get the wrecked one off and redo.

IF you keep putting super glue on jig head or hook that will build up eventually right? So after a few applications your hook has a mound of glue there which you cant get off making the hook useless, no?

I just insert a toothpick through the bait at the hook bend and snot the ends off. Worked great and no messy glue to deal with.

I make my own spring keepers.  I just use steel wire (we have a lot I can grab for free from work), and twist it around something round and small to make a spring.  Then I bend one end of the spring out a bit, and use that like a split ring to attach to the hook's eye.  If you have the wire, they take like ten seconds to make.
