Hi guys. I'm looking for a maintenance free deep cycle battery to run a Minn Kota Endura 50. I only get to go fishing once in awhile, so, I don't want to break the bank. I only fish rivers and small lakes. Don't need one for starting. Was wanting to hear some suggestions from more experienced boaters. Is this one ok ? DieHard Marine Gold Marine Pro Battery, Group Size 29HM, 675 CCA. And is this one considered a dual battery ? Thanks.

Yes, that's a dual-use battery used for starting and can run electronics.

Rating is 210 minutes - translates to about 105AH but with lead-acid batteries you don't want to go below 50%, so you have about 52AH usable.

The Endura-50 draws a max of 50 amps at full speed - less at lower speeds - so you'd have about 1hour at full speed.

Cheap batteries aren't going to get you much time - spend the money on a pure deep-cycle with higher AH. Or go to AGM for even more, but more time on the water in trade.

I think Lithium is out of your price range...they start around $600 for something useful in your situation.

For a trolling motor battery you need to consider reserve capacity.  That is what will keep you on the water with power.  Sams usually has some good deals on agms.

Yes, lithium is definitely outside the budget. I wouldn't want to go over $200 for my needs. I have never heard that about lead acid batteries. I don't have a big, heavy boat. Spend about 3 to 4 hours on the water per trip. Only really use full thrust to get to first spot and coming back to dock. So, can I get enough Amp Hours for my needs for under $200 ?

If most of your time is spent at low speed - ya, you could probably swing a 100ah deep-cycle for that.

I have a 75ah deep-cycle for the 30# Endura on my canoe - I did 4 full-power runs that ran 5-10 minutes each, then some slower moving. Was out for 4 hours and my Minnkota Power Center box says I still have around 75% charge

Sam's Club has a deal where you pay for the $40 annual membership deal, then they give you a $40 in-store gift card. They sell Duracell re-branded EastPenn AGM's, $180 before taxes for the BCI 31M deep cycle AGM, and every couple months they're $20 off. I bought 3 of them for my 36v trolling motor and so far they've given me more time on the water compared to the previous lead-acid wet cells I was using before. And since they're AGM, zero maintenance.

Ya- try to get East Penn if possible - my West Marine is a re-branded East Penn.
