I think I'm just gonna put down the needed money to upgrade my rod/reel for bass and save my current rod for ponds with panfish Honestly, the upgrade doesn't have to be much. A 2500-size reel and a medium/fast or medium-heavy/fast rod is about all you gotta have. Quote

I was thinking about getting Lew's Xfinity Speed Spin Fishing Rod and Reel Combo for around 70 bucks as I've heard its a steal but its bright green. I was looking at some other ones for around 60 for the rod and 60 for the reel, but I'm stuck if I should get a baitcaster or spinning reel Quote

But, would you recommend I go for a spinning reel (which I've been using on my current rod for the past yearish) or change to a baitcaster. I've heard many pros and cons about both but not sure which one would be more universal/better to learn different stuff on. I would start with a spinning rod for sure. They are what you are used to and easier for beginners. Matt and Tim from the videos also recommend this. Quote

I’ve even caught one off a bed with it. Durable rod too, as he has stuck the tip in the ground a few times and hasn’t broken it yet. IMO it’s a solid combo for $70 and should give you years of use if cared for. Quote
