I was a big fan of InvisX but noticed that the zebra mussels were really shredding up curls near the working end. I switched to AbrazX and noticed significant improvement. When using only 6-10 feet of fluoro, is there any reason to switch from AbrazX to Tatsu? Try a Leader Material. So far I like Gold Label, but not sure 30% or higher jump in price compared to Blue Label is worth it in the majority of situations. 1 Quote

I bought two 1,000 yard spools of Tatsu - 15 and 20 - and they are real. I also signed up for an Amazon Prime/Chase credit card and got a $100 credit. Sorry to just jump in on here, do your best to refrain the deals on amazon/EBay and those sites that sell tatsu at a ‘bargain’ half the time you will get fake tatsu. A few months ago I decided to try and buy some tatsu off amazon threw the actual amazon as the seller, it came in a bag not a box, with mono. This seller had 700+ sales of the line and not a single bad report (that I could find in his comments) it was a clear scam, people that sent in pictures looked like it was the same as the stuff I got and more then likely bought by people who didn’t know it was suppose to be precision wound. My spool came loosely wound it was an obvious fake or maybe something someone returned. Tour best bet is to spend the extra 10 dollars and get the reel stuff from bass pro, it cost me more in the long run to return it to a ups store and wait for my money I probably still haven’t received back. Another one I bought a 1000 yard spool off some outdoor camp world at a decent price, it’s been 5 months and haven’t received it, I was charged. These guys didn’t even try to send me a fake spool, they just took my 40$ and I’ve called them and left 5 voicemails on there number that puts them in Southern California less then 40 miles from me. Tatsu is a scammers dream, while me and you may know what fakes look like the majority of amazon buyers are just trying to get the best fishing line and don’t know what it looks like. Quote
Johnbt Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 "best bet is to spend the extra 10 dollars and get the reel stuff from bass pro" I don't see 1000-yard spools of Tatsu on the BassPro site. In any case, I bought my two spools from the page that says: "Ships from Amazon.com Sold by Amazon.com Return policy: This item is returnable " What's the risk here? Pay $175 instead of $215 a spool and get 5% cash back by using the Prime card and Amazon returns are easy if the policy statement says This item is returnable. 2 Quote

I have bought 5 spools of Tatsu from Amazon and have yet to have an issue. I have also purchased it at BPS/Cabelas. They will match Amazon's prices. If you order on line, just call the 800 number and give them price and the website. Also, I have used Tatsu, Abrazx, Invizx, Gold Label, and Premier as leader. So far Premier is my favorite but to be honest they all do a good job (Invizx would be my last choice though). Quote

Net net it is different. Somewhere around here I posted the specific response I got when I emailed Seaguar about it. With all that said, a 25yd spool of blue label leader is $10 on amazon, and it appears to be a little stiffer and a little harder shell than tatsu, and is a far less expensive way to try out whether a change would make a difference for you. 1 Quote
jeffalessi801 Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 I don’t doubt plenty of people have gotten real tatsu from amazon however this just left a bad taste in my mouth seeing as it was from amazon themself and thankfully I do have prime and was able to return it! Still doesn’t change the fact that in my opinion I can’t trust it and even my response was flagged and deleted when I was simply trying to post on the reviews what I received was fake and the pictures for proof were there in that post. Here’s what I received! Unfortunately the file is over the excepted 1.46 mb. If there’s a way to post a photo let me know. It was a pretty sad fake. Quote
Tail Slap Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 Just a FYI the Tatsu that is on the bulk spool is NOT precision wound. It does criss cross looser etc. Not different than any spool of mono etc is spooled. Only the smaller spools are line by line precision wound. Tatsu like Blue Label Leader is a dual polymer fluoro. It uses two different compositions. One the harder comp is the core and the outer is the softer comp. They are made into one mono line. The softer outer layer allows for better knot hold and a softer limper action. Kureha Seaguar makes many different combinations and mixtures of fluoro line. While they are both made thru the same process and dual fluoro polymer they very likely use different ones. Tatsu being main line probably uses a blend with properties to make it limper. Further for same lb rating they may have different diameters. Some leader versions have a hard outer layer, R18 Hard being one, making them stiffer for some leader characteristics. Some are made to enhance strength or add stretch. Most of this is in the leader section but also main line. For leader Seaguar GrandMax FX is their top of the line I believe. Superior to Blue Label but not a USA market item.. Then you have GrandMax Shock Leader that adds some extra stretch I believe but only goes to just under 50lb. You also have to be careful if you order very light line. IIRC anything under pe 0.8 is single not dual compounds as its too thin to do. But that's more for your gill and trout guy.. For larger you jump to Big Game Manyu Premium which starts at 60lb and goes to 215lb. Then there are specialty blends that are considered gen 5 effecting things like refractory and other non standard qualities. It's hard because the Japanese does not translate well. Usually better to find a English non usa vendor description but it has to be detailed usually Australia has good detail or some EU site. Point being its entirely possible a loose criss crossed rolled 1000yd/m spool of Tatsu could be real. Sold and Shipped by Amazon they likely get their stock from the same places Bass and Cabelas other big box stores get theirs. Just as likely to get fake/real as any of them. If orderiing online I do not see the difference other than Amazon if you have Prime has best turn around on shipping etc of any company I have ever seen. Just consider the buying power Amazon has. The only company to out do them is probably Walmart. I am lucky as I am close to not one but two Amazon warehouses and one major distribution center. Usually get my stuff in one day. Quote
