Hello!

Just wondering what the best way to mount my Lowrance transducer to my trolling motor is. I have the clamp tool thing that is meant for holding the transducer, but I’m stuck on the best way to route the cable back to the locator.

Since I’m using a Lowrance branded locator and not a Hummingbird, I can just use the cord that comes with the motor.

I’ve seen some videos of people using a coil air hose type thing, and just putting that on the bow next to the motor. I’ve seen some people actually take the head of the motor off and then routing the cord through the shaft of the motor as well, but that’d be hard to also then plug the cord back into the motor. Some people just electrical tape the cord on the outside of the shaft, but then it’d get stuck when deploying and it still wouldn’t make it back to the locator.

Not sure. Thanks for any help and advice.

I don't have a Terrova, I have a Minnkota Maxxum, and use a Lowrance at the bow.  This is how I do it.  I have a specialized trolling motor bracket that the transducer goes inside and it is held on with a hose clamp.  The cord goes up the shaft and is held with electrical tape and zip ties.  The key is to make sure you have enough cord at the top so its somewhat loose when you stow and deploy the bow mount, but not too loose that the cord gets hung up or pinched.  If you want I can take a photo.

Pretty sure that cord has an adapter that will be compatible with your Lowrance.

This is only for 2D sonar tho I think.

You have 2 choices

1) Disconnect TM power!!! Remove 4 head screws. Remove head top and unplug motor. Remove head base screw and remove head base. Pull motor and drive shaft out of deck mount. Attach Transducer to motor. Zip tie cable to motor shaft base. Run transducer wire through deck mount. Reinstall everything in reverse order. Zip tie cable to head shaft base. There is no need to secure the cable along the shaft although some do.

2) Install transducer on motor. Zip tie cable to motor shaft base. Leave enough slack that the motor can turn 360 degrees. Zip tie cable to head shaft base.

Although method 2 seems easier it is more likely to get caught or pinched sometime someway. Option 1 will last longer. The only exception is some transducer cables are too thick to go through shaft track.
