Ice cream is in my blood.  My all time favorite was made by my grandfather, hand churned with double cream made from cream fresh outta the cows in the pasture behind my great grandparents farm.  Flavor it any way you want as long as he double boiled Hershey bars for a hard shell topping or used fresh squeezed apple cider for a float.  Some nights he would make sherbet.  Normally we didn’t go to bed without a bowl of ice cream of some sort.

It is extremely rare for a 24 hour period to pass where I ate no ice cream. Some of my favorites:

Friendlys S’mores (only available in the summer)

Hagen Dazs Black Walnut, bourbon vanilla truffle, Irish cream brownie, caramel cone.

Ben and Jerry’s Netflix & Chilled, Brownie Batter, Americone Dream, Fudge Brownie, Cinnamon Buns, Gimmie S’more (but friendlys is better), Pfish food, Urban Bourbon.

McDonalds Hot Fudge Sundae. But they no longer have nuts! McDonalds Shamrock Oreo McFlurry.

Coldstone - Either Cake batter or White Chocolate ice cream with a brownie, fudge and peanut butter.

In general, a hot fudge sundae with peanut butter.

Since I am watching my diet right now, I only have a Costco box of Drumsticks. I get one a day. They have much fewer calories than anything that requires a spoon.

Friendlys

One of the things I miss since moving from MA to MN - Friendlys. When I was a kid, my sister, cousins and I would bike to the one that was on Prospect St between Greendale and W Boylston at least once a week...good times.

Handles home made ice cream in Medina Ohio has the best ice cream but it’s 2600 miles from me.  I had jalapeño mango sorbet there a couple years ago. Not for everyone.

I don't care for Culver's actually - what I want is the Bridgeman's to come back. Use to have a dozen just in the metro area...now the only Bridgeman's Restaurant left is way up in Duluth.

There is no such thing as an ice cream that is worthy of being a favorite.  Hell I haven't found one worth eating yet.

Yes, good times. They’re gone around here. When they were in the mall around here, I loved the Reese’s peanut butter cup sundae. my grandmother (r.i.p.) and aunt used to take us there.

I don’t understand why they don’t make a friendly’s ice cream shop, along the lines of coldstone? Ice cream and shakes only.

Tillamook brand Mocha Almond Fudge.

Pretty much everything Tillamook makes is great.

Haagen Dazs vanilla bean for the win!

I’m very jealous of all the Blue Bell mentions as I can’t find it where I live. After HD it is my favorite brand!

Sign me up for a good frozen custard over ice cream though! Like Culver’s serves. I’ve had other “frozen custard” that was more like heavy whipping cream. Dreadful stuff. My favorite frozen custard is Gilles in Fond du Lac, WI. No Culver’s where I live but I can get custard from The Meadows in Hagerstown, MD which is really good.

Edit: Honorable mention goes to Turkey Hill All Natural (black lid, NOT red lid!!)

Cold Stone’s German Chocolate Cake or a bowl of Tillamook French Vanilla with a little Hershey’s chocolate syrup drizzled over it. And I really don’t mind some of that Tillamook French Vanilla on top of a piece of apple or peach pie, especially after a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner...

If you like it on peach pie, you have to try their peaches and cream.

Easy question. Breyer's butter pecan. Don't even need to think about it.

Amaretto Cherry, and most others with chocolate in it. Culver's and my local custard shop called Ritter's are both amazingly good! My family saves those free ice cream scoop coupons so whenever we go there we're ready.

I'm not a big fan of store bought ice cream. I prefer those local ice cream shops that make their own and I'll try just about anything.

Have you ever let a scoop of Breyer's "frozen dessert" melt in the sink? By morning all that's left is a lump of some gelatinous substance. Gross.

But if I buy store bought ice cream I like Mayfield Blueberry Cream Pie or Moose Tracks or Turtle Tracks.

Blue Bell Black Walnut is hands down my favorite.

Followed closely by Blue Bell Coffee and Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk.
