Just a FYI...I contacted Tackle Warehouse to see if they were having a Memorial Day sale and they said “No, not this year”.

EDIT:  This was originally posted in the ongoing Latest Sale thread and moved here because it ignited a whole separate discussion.

I did not start a new thread just to say that TW is not having their Memorial Day sale.

Tackle Warehouse just isn't the same anymore. I mean I know COVID affected them and all but it affected everybody Nationwide (Worldwide really) yet many other online tackle retailers have recovered and are back to normal and many of them have almost as much business per day that Tackle Warehouse does so it's hard for me to understand why they haven't been able to recover as quickly as their competitors? I'm sure they aren't worried...yet, but they need to get caught up with their inventory/orders/shipping times and they need to get back to having their normal "sales" like all their competitors have before they do have to worry. This pandemic has put a lot of businesses under that were doing just fine before it hit.

Their competitors are having inventory issues, too. My favorite companies, like Omnia and KTP, are having sales but it doesn't matter because everything I'd want is sold out or excluded. The post above about KTP, for instance. Didn't stop me from buying some dark sleepers, though, lol

I have placed several orders through their competitors recently who have stock and get it shipped to me quickly so that excuse is just that...an excuse. If their competitors can get me my order within a week there's no good reason that it should take Tacklewarehouse 16 days!

I've experienced the same thing - TW want's to wait 1 to 2 weeks to ship an order. Scheels got the same stuff to me within 3 days of the order being placed.

I'm getting very disheartened with TW.

It seems more often then not now I'm just using Tackle Warehouse for visuals of what I want because their web site is very clean and works well and I can see up close pics of what I'm looking for better then most other sites but I end up ordering from one of their competitors because they have that ridiculous 16 day wait before they ship. Look, I understand that COVID threw everything out of whack but it did so to everybody, not just Tackle Warehouse and if other merchants have recovered why can't TW? I know California has been hit harder then most as their size/population is much more then most other States but the restrictions have been getting less and less for over a month now as COVID cases have been going down drastically all across the U.S., in fact just the other day they said for the first time ALL 50 States reported a reduction in cases. If TW is that swamped they need to hire more people to get the orders together and out the door in a timely manner!!!

It's like anything else, gotta vote with your dollar. They'll change if they start losing enough money.

I think I’ll go stand in the corner and wear the TW banner. At best it will always take me 7 days when everything is going good. I live about as far across the country you can get. Covid is what it is. Everyone situation on here is different and is what it is.

That swim bait, packs of Rage Craws and some RoboWorms, that I really do want next day but too cheap to pay for I can wait. Don’t need them that badly. Will not hold me up from getting out.

Maybe there is a serious problem there. Doubt it. I believe they will get back on track.

Myself I despise Wally World. I’m not a huge fan of DICK’S. Local tackle shop has problems getting stuff in. (TW may be in the same boat). You have to stand there and listen to some song and dance story about how much better the shop is gonna be. Not. Why go there and walk out with stuff that you really didn’t go there for. Or settle for something less. In my case it certainly won’t work out for the better. I’m so dang anal that I’m better off just waiting for a UPS Box.

At TW they have a better selection. But I realize not all Wally Worlds and the old mom and pop shops are not created equal. My local choices suck. So I wait.

Ya, I avoid Wally-World like the plague - never shopped there, never will.

I only stop in there when I absolutely have to.

Locally - we have Scheels, Omnia, Fleet-Farm (the one in Carver has a large fishing section), and Cabelas... if I want to travel further, Sportsman's Warehouse and Joes Sporting Goods.

TW has higher volumes than those other sites. Which means the inventory/supply issues are more visible and impactful with them.  The entire industry is overwhelmed with supply chain issues, from large to small companies.  It's just more visible with the larger companies because they sell out of whatever inventory they get as soon as they arrive.

There's an even bigger problem looming in the horizon that could make this issue look like nothing in comparison. Hopefully that doesn't happen, so I won't mention it here because it's possible it might still be avoided.

Suffice to say, it's going to be a long time before the supply issues are worked out. Just pack your patience and plan accordingly.

We just have to up our personal logistics to get through this. The days of ordering baits on Tuesday/Wednesday for a fishing trip on Saturday are gone. Plan ahead, weeks ahead.

That’s kind of the point with TW right now. It’s not inventory, it’s the taking weeks to ship an order that other suppliers don’t. I think most people understand the challenges of getting inventory right now. But you don’t have to plan ahead with other places.

But you do have to plan ahead if you're buying from them, 16 days to ship isn't trivial. If other places have the product and can get it shipped faster, why even bother with TW?

I guess I'm just a little confused why this keeps getting brought up.

I can not speak for their other distribution center, but Covid is still an issue here in California, both politically and culturally.  I feel like it is fading, culturally faster than politically, but the effects are still present particular in certain areas.  Until it dissipates, I can see TW having issues.

Alright Glenn I will bite on this one. Only things I can figure that makes things worse is a war of some sort or China stops sourcing tackle or limits the amount and companies have find new sources to make their products. I must be missing something but in my 47 years this is the first time I can remember supply chain issues like this.

Even weird things like hot wheels, which I kind of collect, have been hard to find with some stores not getting shipments for months.

Like some I still mostly order from TW, but I always order in the off season so the wait doesn’t impact me.

I'd be embarrassed to say how much money I've spent at TW the past 10+ years, but they're basically dead to me as a tackle shop at this point outside of black Friday assuming that'll still be 20% off. It's 100% not a CA covid restriction issue and, although I have my doubts, if their order volume is truly significantly higher than ever despite 16 day processing delays that's on them for mismanaging their labor force by not having anywhere near sufficient staff to meet demands. Seems quite implausible TW is the only retailer dealing with 16 day processing delays due to high order volumes while everyone else is +/- in the ballpark of their normal processing times.

They've gone from setting the bar with their customer service and business model to becoming a joke in the business world. If they don't right their ship soon they'll be an unfortunate case study on business mismanagement in MBA programs for years to come.

Just pony up for the expedited shipping at TW.  If you place a good sized order you're only adding a few cents per item.  I bet they still come out the same price or cheaper than their competition plus a much larger selection

 Yup ~

Last week I needed some terminal tackle ~

Paid for UPS next day air shipping at TW -

Ordered placed on the 11th - received it in MI on the 13th.

That $20 spot isn't helping me catch fish.

#worthit

I've been using Omina Fishing more recently. Their stock can be hit or miss, but you get fast shipping, and they seem like great peeps.

I placed a small order a while back and got this hand-written letter and they threw in a free pack of Flukes and Z-Craws!

They seem like a great bunch of guys. If you ever get this side of the river - their storefront is in the industrial park on the NE corner of 55 and Douglas in Golden Valley - 1st light west of the 55/100 interchange.

Yeah, we all get that somehow their expedited shipping isn't affected...accept that it's double the price it was pre-Covid but you shouldn't have to pay for expedited shipping to get your order quickly...standard shipping should get your order to you within 5 - 7 days...not 16 days, that's just ridiculous!!!

I have a strong disdain for Wal-Mart for a number of reasons. I won't shop there. If you don't like TW don't shop there, but let's not make this thread a bash TW thread.
