The only way they can take my Brush Hogs is to pry them from my cold dead hands.

I'm with this guy.

Ain't nobody gonna take my brush hog, trick worms, z-craws, speed craws, or speed worms away from me.

I have not found anything that proves they are going out of business. It would be a horrible thing is BPS bought them.

No, I'm not.  BPS not only ruined or discontinued the few great products Cabelas still made.  Once they felt they had eliminated the majority of the competition in the market what little quality was left in Redhead products also disappeared.

You are right about that. I had forgotten about the Cabelas brand. I was thinking more along the lines of buying out bait companies.

Instead of buying out a bait company, I would think BPS would prefer to essentially make a blatant copy of a competitors design.  BPS can afford a lengthy court battle where other companies especially smaller ones cant.

im with you everything bps gets near they turn into a crappy knock off product.i dont buy alot of stuff from the anymore because instead of the name brand they wanna sell me their low quality knock off. there are exceptions, the sticko is a pretty good bait and the xps grubs are good.

Only thing I'll buy from BPS is maybe one more of their 'Extreme Qualifier 3700' bags - they fit more boxes than any other bag that can slide under the mid-seat of my canoe.

They used to make an excellent waterfowl shotgun case, 54" floating zippered case which are rare.  Rogers, Mack PW and Midway took over the waterfowl market so BPS stopped investing money into it.  I admit I like some of the plastics, the river bugs are pretty good and I like the colors.  They have some cool creature and craw baits that are under 3."

Lets see here..maybe biggest and arguably best soft plastics company done?(maybe strike king is maybe not)...possible...not likely

Zoom is my hands down favorite. I have other companies I like.big bite, the mentioned strike king (love the menace), Berkley etc. But if I had to choose 1 company I'd choose zoom...all day everyday...twice on Sunday.

IDK, all I know is that fishing has been going out of style for the last 50 years. It is extremely difficult for these companies to operate now a days with a customer base that’s shrinking every year.

Never been to Tennessee?

I hope not, BPS has proven they are second to none at destroying reputable brands/products.

And Pradco.

Anyways, I don't think any bass fisherman care what kind of acquisition it is as long as they keep getting 20 trick worms for $5. :D

LOL

Unfortunately, no. I wish fishing was not a shrinking sport around here. It would make it much easier to buy rods. Gas prices, new boat prices and dock fees killed the sport. Plus, the fish are way fished out, from all the years of no catch limits.

Heck it seems like living in NYC is starting to become a dying sport. You can sell a house sight unseen to folks from NY and CA right now in the south, and lots of people are cashing in. My new lake house neighbors are from New York, they even bought 25 extra acres to build houses for their kids

Instead of selling, I'd turn that dwelling into a hipster coffee house/fixed gear bike hangout, and one of the neighbors can do the micro brewery.

It’s my forever home once I can convince the lady we don’t have to live in the city, she’s says 5 years. although your plan could fit in with my plan haha

After searching high and low for certain colors of Zoom Ultravibe speed worms I gave up and had a company make some in the color choices I needed.

To my disdain I see this thread. Not the news I wanted to hear. Affordable and quality rarely go together like Zoom products. Hope the best for them

The bigger question is will the big companies start eliminating their big city offices?

If that happens, the cities are doomed, but there’ll be less crowded fishing for me...

This is pretty much what the company that they buy their plastics from does.  Just about every hot bait that shows up gets a BPS knockoff shortly after.  Everybody does it but BPS has a huge selection.  A good chunk of my plastics are BPS house brand for this reason.  They have every type of bait there is in store and they catch fish.

All that house brand, knock offs I see as a turn off.

But I can see where it’s a turn on to guys their variety of house stuff. There’s a kut-tail I use a lot of. Don’t think BPS can match it. Again I believe it’s a mind thing. Will BPS work? For sure. Getting the knock off to work with my mind is the tough part.

some baits it doesnt really matter. a ribbontail worm , tube etc to me the house brand at bps works fine. when you get into things like a kietech or hard baits to me the originals just out perform the knock offs.

So this is one of the reasons why I don't post about rumors I hear about.  3 pages of speculation with no evidence the rumor even has merit.  Meanwhile, some folks are panic-buying Zoom products now.

Another problem with "leaking" information, is that sometimes it turns out not to be true, thus damaging the credibility of the person posting about it. I don't want to wear the gossip label, thank you very much.

So that's why you don't seem me giving you guys "intel" about speculations and side-conversations I often hear about. As with any industry, there's a lot of that in the fishing industry too.

If this was directed at me, I do apologize. I didn't think asking the question wouldn't be out of line. I mean it's obvious a lot of people buy there products and would be effected by it.

Now, where is Aaron Rodgers headed? Maybe that is a different kind of speculation. :)

Please anyone take Aaron Rodgers. So done with that guy, that magically only plays good when he is motivated. Take him and good luck lol.

As for Zoom I bought a lot of their baits early on, but they are just sitting in storage. Not bad baits just ones I rarely use. Swamp crawlers and the mag finesse worm are the exception. Since Netbait discontinued the slim shake, the swamp crawler is the only skinny worm out there that I know of.

Nope, not directed at you AT ALL.  Didn't even occur to me. Apologies if it seemed I was insinuating you.

Guys, guys, just turn your attention to YUM if you want some cheap and effective baits. Or don't and leave them all to me, I don't care either way but don't want everyone getting so worked up about it. I've got more YUM than Zoom in my boat and if I had to go all the YUM baits tomorrow, I doubt I'd miss them. Plus they do bulk packs of a lot of their baits, which is huge plus in my book.
