Jmurphy87 Posted May 23, 2021 Posted May 23, 2021 (edited) I have a shimano intenza 7’4 heavy that is pretty decent overall, it’s definitely a true heavy rod. I think I paid $130 at my local fishing store. My other heavy is a dobyns 736 champion fr and that’s pretty decent also. Edited May 23, 2021 by Jmurphy87 Added photo to show rod ratings Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted May 28, 2021 Author Super User Posted May 28, 2021 I can get 15% off a Victory rod at the moment, but unfortunately they only make a 7'4" instead of a 7'. Still tempting. Has anyone used the 7'4" Victory heavy? Is it more of a broomstick than the other St Croix lines? It does come in at only 4.2oz which is impressive if nothing else Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted May 28, 2021 Global Moderator Posted May 28, 2021 @Boomstick I bought a Siera 735 MagHeavy and it’s darn near perfect for a frog. A little slower action which helps for a quick trigger and all the backbone you need. Well a month ago I broke 3” of the end off!! I sent it back and let the guys at Dobyns talk me into a 701 Kaden to replace it....It’s alright. A lot faster than the Sierra but an excellent frog rod also if you want a faster action. It’s also a lot more sensitive than the Siera which makes for a better heavy cover rod. I also have a 15yr old Lizard Dragger which was my go to for all that time but wanted to upgrade. Now I use the Lizard dragger just for Carolina rigs and the Kaden fir frogs and heavy cover t rig’s and back up punch rod. But I do miss that Siera Mike 1 Quote

The only real reason I haven't bought one already is that that's been his brother's line of rods. I mean at some point his brother will probably own the same rod. 1 Quote

I don't own any (and my oldest doesn't have that one yet, that's his line of rods) but I've gotten my hands on them in stores. I agree Quote
