PressuredFishing Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 The only time I have fished these colors is when bed fishing because they stand out really nicely and make it easy to see whats going on. (also I like a black lure when fishing white sandy bottoms). But can I fish these lures through the summer? (Bubblegum or white senkos/trick worms?) Quote
Super User gim Posted May 20, 2021 Super User Posted May 20, 2021 I used a chartreuse with black flake colored senko last season skipping docks with great success. The water is very stained in this lake and I think they can see the bright color easier. White also worked, but not quite as good. 1 Quote

Interesting, sometimes I think bass will just eat something in their face lol Quote

I often fish a small river in July and August for brown bass and precise accurate placement of lures is required. I'm fully convinced that any lure will work in that situation, it just has to be very accurate (like the size of a dinner plate). In the dock skipping situation above, I think another color would also work but as I mentioned the bright color in stained water makes it easier. Quote
QED Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I frequently use a chartreuse spinnerbait with a chartreuse grub trailer in dingy waters and it works very well. YMMV. Quote
Super User Bankc Posted May 20, 2021 Super User Posted May 20, 2021 Chartreuse is my No. 1 color. Just about every lure I own, I own a chartreuse version of it. 5 Quote
fishingtx Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 yes on pearl no on bubble gum, but Methiolate is very similar and I have heard that bubble gum doesn't catch as many fish as Methiolate yes on lime chartreuse by zoom Quote
ChrisO91 Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Bubblegum or sherbet colored floating worms on a shaky head are my "go to" in stained water. Quote
TheBasslayer Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 In the past at this one lake I fished Cotton Candy color Zoom finesse worms later in the evening, and some decent fish ate them. I'll use them occasionally, but Idk why I stopped using them as much. 1 Quote

Super User Spankey Posted May 20, 2021 Super User Posted May 20, 2021 I've long gave up on bubble gum. And what I'd like to try in bubble gum is either not made or I've never seen it available. Have only fished it in a soft fluke. I will not dis it because I'm not able to fish it the way I'd want to. Quote

Im in the same boat, never caught a fish on it, but only fished it a few times Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted May 20, 2021 Super User Posted May 20, 2021 Bubble gum is a great pre spawn color. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 20, 2021 Super User Posted May 20, 2021 I've used pearl colored crankbaits in clear water for years. In my waters that color works best when there is small shad in the lake. Chartreuse, and chartreuse with black flakes, works best fished around vegetation in clear water. About the only time I use bubble gum is pre spawn when the water is murky. 1 Quote
galyonj Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I love a chartreuse and black lipless in dirty water. 1 Quote
heavyduty Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 All three are "go-to" colors for me for river smallmouth in VA 2 Quote
QED Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 The Cordell Spot in the old Smokey Joe scheme was basically pearl with black back and a black spot on both sides to mimic a shad. Worked GREAT in the delta for largemouth and striped bass. 1 Quote
Super User Bird Posted May 21, 2021 Super User Posted May 21, 2021 Surprisingly, cotton candy chartreuse works well for Smallmouth here in VA in clear water, don't know why. Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted May 21, 2021 Super User Posted May 21, 2021 A bubblegum super fluke is dynamite in the weedy, overgrown shallows in summer. I use chartreuse lures of all kinds all year long in the river. Not so much in the lakes. Pearl white has never done anything for me. jj Quote
TriStateBassin106 Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Never had success on white colored soft plastics, morning dawn is a neat color though. definitely gonna try to throw it more. might even throw a morning dawn roboworm on a dropshot tomorrow when I fish my clear but weedy in some spots reservoir. HenryPF Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 My #1 color - bubblegum swirl. Oddly the pictures of Yum or the BPS stik o dont do it justice. Never caught anything on pink. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 21, 2021 Super User Posted May 21, 2021 For the last two weeks a white Senko, Speed Worm, & Speed Craw has been extremely deadly. I'm dipping the tip in Dip-N-Glo Chartreuse Garlic. Texas Rigged weightless on the Senko & Texas Rigged 3/16 oz on the worm/craw. The Speed Craw & Worm are reeled just under the surface like a spinnerbait. I'm fishing an extremely clear shallow water marsh with lots of vegetation. 1 Quote
