I have some Berkley Fusion19 Swimbait hooks, unweighted.  I don't use them for anything at the moment, I prefer the weighted ones for swimbaits.  Any cons for using these on a weighted Texas rig?  I can't imagine it's any different than a Trashmaster jig.  The hooks are pretty stout, thicker than my EWGs (LazerSharp 4/0).  They are also 5/0, which may make it too big for some baits.

Give it a try and see what happens.  Me, I fish 10 " worms quite a bit in the summer time, both for drifting through tree rows and pitching at objects/targets.   I have found that regular size Gamakatsu round bend or sproat bend hooks work better for me than the extra wide gap ones do.  Your results may vary from mine.

I use them for skipping weightless stick worms.  It prevents them from balling up down the shank after they've been beat on for a bit.

They collect a lot of trash when you're fishing around trash, though.  That's one detriment to them.

Will they work for what you're trying to do?  Yes.  I carry both screw locks and regular EWGs because the negatives outweigh the positives for me when it comes to bottom contact Texas rigging.
