Super User DitchPanda Posted May 19, 2021 Super User Posted May 19, 2021 Went to my local pond for a few hours this morning. Was cloudy with a light wind and rain off and in. Caught 7 largemouth between 2-3.5lbs on a black buzz bait. Solid outing. 8 Quote
Biglittle8 Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Last week I caught a good number of fish on top water(mostly on the smaller side) I lost 2 large fish right at the boat. The funny thing is that I had the most luck in late morning (11ish) the ponds have been good about an HR before dark. Had good luck with a Lucky Craft Gunfish. 1 Quote
Smells like fish Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I love those top water fish. I’ve been catching on walking lures and whopper ploppers but no takes on the pop r yet. Quote
gunsinger Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I've caught a few on a Tiny Torpedo. Lost what would have been a PB on a frog. 4 Quote
Bluegillslayer Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I lost what would have been my first bass on topwater of 2021 sunday I miss topwater explosions 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted May 19, 2021 Author Super User Posted May 19, 2021 Kinda hoping for more of the same tomorrow..weather looks identical. Probably bring a frog and a Texas rigged lizard for a follow up bait. I used a senko for a follow up today and for some crazy reason they wouldn't touch it. 1 Quote
Smells like fish Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 I threw a Senko the other evening and nothing for over a half an hour, meanwhile my wife had on a 6” Zoom lizard and caught 5 bass. I switched to those new to me Max Scent big purple worms and had 8 or 9 bass on in the next half an hour and got 5 in. Try the old purple worm and see how it goes. 1 Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted May 20, 2021 Super User Posted May 20, 2021 Nice going! The topwater bite is starting around here also. Mostly on walking baits. Quote

I seem to be catching them a lot on the senko. I caught my Pb of 2021 a few weeks ago and all of the largemouth that I caught while wading today on a Green Pumpkin Senko. Maybe it’s just Michigan, though. And also I want to try my topwaters when I can fish in the morning this weekend! Quote

Black Hawk Basser Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 I like a fluke for a follow-up bait. Always worked well for me. Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted May 20, 2021 Author Super User Posted May 20, 2021 More of the same today...6 fish on the buzz bait again. Lost a 5lber on a craw tube. 1 Quote
