I am trying to decide what color stick bait to buy to match the things in my lake that the bass are feeding on  so I decided to ask all the great fishermen here what they think. Mostly what I have seen the bass feed on are bluegill but we do have crappie, catfish, carp and anything that people might have thrown in there. The main pond I fish at is always pretty clear and is not very deep but algae and some other things grow on the surface and underneath the surface. Any suggestions on color?? I figured I might try something with flash like a chrome blue but I am no pro so I would like to know what would work.

Some food for thought: in my neck of the woods most bass have never seen a trout, they will never see a trout in their lifetime, why ? simply because where I live the only place where trout can survive is up in the sierra 7,000+ above sea level, so 99.9% of all bass have never seen a trout beacuse it 's warm water where trout can 't survive. One of my favorite and most productive color is rainbow trout and it 's productive because I like it.

Choose the color you like or think it 's going to be the most productive, there are a lot of things more important than bait color, present it right in the right place and the fish will grab it.

when you say "stickbait" do you mean a soft plastic like senkos, or a hard bait like a rapala original floater? if its soft plastic, go w/ june bug, natural shad, or green pumpkin/watermelon seed. if its a hard bait go w/ a rapala original floater and get it in minnow, silver/black back, or bleeding pearl.

but like others have said, its more about presentation than it is color.

on the slow days, try a 4" senko - i always use junebug color when i fish the 4"

regular days i would fish a 5" senko, some classic colors to use: "mad melon" , "Confetti" , "melon w/ black flake",

i would worry less about colors and more about flake.....i like using senkos that have 2-3 different color flakes, i also prefer shiny flakes, but i must say....i have had the most consistant success with the melon seed with black flake

honestly, iv heard in most cases that color doesnt matter, GO WITH WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL CONFIDENT

I catch most on a pumpkinseed senko, inclear or stained water.  The senko version of pumpkinseed is very orange, with black fleck, different from what a lot of other companies call pumpkinseed (brown with black flecks).  I also do real well with pearl tiki stiks.
