So I bought 3 of the base model SLX reels

1- 150XG

2- 150HG

All three of these reels have given me grief. The Anti reverse roller bearing has crapped out in all three of them. I’ve repaired two of them already and now need to order a 3rd bearing.

has anyone else ran I to this issue with these reels or have I just miraculously bought the 3 worst reels that came off the line?.

What wrong with AR bearing? It is kind of super duper unfortunate if you to get three lemons from Shimano at the same time.

First two had a god awful squeak. Cleaned them lubed them and it didn’t go away. So I replaced the bearing and good as new. This third one though..... man it’s like you have turned the drag off about 3/4 of the way and put your thumb on the spool and started reeling. Just stiff and sluggish. It also makes a noise but not the high pitched squeak like the other two more of a rattle grind. I could see if I was rough on gear but considering cosmetically they still look brand new, no scuffs or wear, I shouldn’t have such a consistent problem.

I have five SLX's 2 DC's and 3 150HG's. I have not had any issues with any of mine. I have used them quite often this year.

That is not good to hear. How difficult was it to take apart and replace the bearings?

I purchased a base SLX xg when it first came available, within 2 months my ani reverse failed. First Shimano in 20 years that I had a problem with. That said, I also purchased an SLX mgl and have not had any issues.

I’d be looking at service. Pop it open and make sure everything is seated properly. Does not sound like the AR is the problem. When it’s the AR, the handle will backspin on the hook set on a 8 ounce fish. Had it happen to me with $15-20 reels from AliExpress.

I have the SLX MGL and a Curado K. No issues at all. From what your describing, I don't think it's the AR.

I purchased the base SLX around the middle of March.  I've been using it pretty consistently each fishing trip with no problems.

I picked up and 150HG and 150XG last year.  I've beaten them pretty hard and have no issues so far.
