Super User ATA Posted May 16, 2021 Super User Posted May 16, 2021 Last night I went for fishing, I used my frog combo which is straight 65lb braid. I was good with my top waters or my swaver, But when I start to use Jitterbug I got my line in the hooks two times out of three cast. Just reporting, I know what to do next time, ill use heavy mono as leader or Flouro so it will not be tangled. Unless someone have another idea. Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted May 16, 2021 Super User Posted May 16, 2021 I fish it on 20 lb P-Line CXX. I think the stretch helps slow my reaction time(in the silence of the night)and helps to keep them hooked. 2 Quote
papajoe222 Posted May 17, 2021 Posted May 17, 2021 Those are meant to be fished with a wire leader. That's why heavy mono works so well. I went the modification route, removing the side hooks and adding a belly treble. If you go that route, be sure to plug the holes on the sides to eliminate the chance of water getting into the body. One thing that will help and doesn't involve changing line, or modifying the lure is to make sure you thumb the spool. Keep the lure in front of the line and you'll decrease the problem significantly. 2 1 Quote
