So there was a post on Marketplace of a free boat.  I went and got it quick.  Due to the situation of the buyer etc,  I did not receive a title/registration for anything,  trailer has no tags etc.  I will be over there soon with a 'Change in Status of a Numbered Vessel' form.

I didn't know what year it was so I checked the HIN and noticed it had a recall for 'LEVEL FLOTATION' but no information (Check this Link for the recall details)

Does anybody know what I should look for to fix this recall?

Here are some pictures.

I dunno about the 'level flotation' issue - but given the collection of debris inside...I think you got yourself a project boat and first item is check/replace the flooring.

Yessir!! It's rainy today but next, we will rid of the rest of the cushions, rip up the carpet and wood.  I want to put a pedestal on the front like a Bass Boat and maybe find a way to throw a trolling motor and foot pedal on there,  put all new swivel seats etc.  We tried starting the motor but it didn't do anything.  Motor turns,  starter is bad.

Check the plugs and coil first - that's the cheapest and easiest fix for motor that turns but doesn't start.

Oh,  it doesn't do jack when you turn the ignition.  I checked to make sure it wasn't locked up with a socket ratchet.  Tried bypassing the ignition and the positive near the battery would smoke. pretty sure the starter is no good,  took it out and grounded it and ran the power directly to it and smoke near the battery again.

Looks like someone needed to get the junk out of their yard and you agreed to take it.

Free is an ancient word for: a lot of time and money later.

When you catch that first 1.2 lb bass in it send pics.

Recall should be fixed by somebody else for free. Now if you take them that boat as is, they might not be able to help haha. Once you make it presentable, call bay liner about the recall

Not in a million years would I touch a Bayliner, let alone one in this condition. But hey, it's free. I can't really help with the issues, but it would be cool to see pics of the restore process and eventual outcome. We've had threads like that before and it was really interesting. Good luck!

Did you call Bayliner and ask?  They are the ones who can tell you what the recall is and weather it is still covered.  Neat project, post pics of your progress.   :ship-022:

When you pull the floor, check the stringers and transom. My guess is there rotten, and need replaced. It's not that bad.

For fiberglass work - On youtube, look up boatworkstoday & friscoboatersgarage. There's lots of others, those two come to mind.

There are kits\ways to mount an outboard on an I\O. If you want to go that route.

There are some videos of people who have turned boats like that into some real fishing machines ! Could turn it into a center console !!

IT's cleaning up nice so far !

Bayliner made a funny looking bass boat back in the 70's. I have seen more than 1, but not in the last 30 yrs.
