Sick deer?

Hi everyone,

One of my trail cams picked up this deer. It's got hunks of fur missing and the inside of it's ears are bloody.

 We haven't seen this on a deer before. Any idea what could be wrong with it?

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s sick. The missing patch of fur isn’t uncommon. Deer get attacked by predators, get hung up in fences, etc.

 

The ears don’t appear bloody to me. They look reddish but their ears have a lot of blood vessels in them so it may just be the angle that the photo was taken.

Looks like losing its winter coat and summer coat coming in. Ears could be she had a tick or some other bug feasting on her.

she looks in good shape body wise.

I don't think that deer looks good at all, never seen one bleed like that shedding summer coat. If you continue to get any more pics of her let us know how she does. I'm just getting ready to put my camera out and run it under apples and acorns till season comes in. Dave
