A young, 20 something, couple moved in next door to me. The house has been a rental for some time now, they purchased it. In the last couple months I have been working on my boat in the driveway. His fiancé introduced themselves to me when I was working on the boat and he was silent. "He's a musky fisherman" yadda yadda yadda.

I come back from the lake today. He was building something in the garage and he asked how I did. I started talking to him and he's telling me he has a ton of cash tied up in his gear. Shows me 2 St Croix musky rods with Revo Toros.

I'll give him this. When I was his age, I might have had $100 bucks total invested in my gear. He had me beat. I didn't dare invite him into my garage/tackle shop. Kid had his bachelor party last weekend. I didn't want to be the one responsible for ruining his relationship.

Just invite him in. If all it takes a a skirt on a hook to lure him away, it was never meant to be.

My budget at that age and yours sounds like one in the same lol

I would invite him out on the water and see how it goes. You never know, you may end up with a pretty solid friend and co angler as well as a neighbor you won’t despise.

edit: tell him about BR!

Only if he doesn't suck, though.

If he sucks, we can help beat him into shape, and maybe @slonezp will have a new fishing buddy

The house next to me is for sell.  I pray every night that another fellow fisherman moves in.  Lucky you

It seems because of forums like this that fishermen with our sort of “fascination”  with fishing is common but really I never talk to anybody that shares our interest or is harassed by the lure monkey on the level that we are. At best I figure there are few as a dozen fanatical BR members per state. We are an endangered type. Can you imagine if you lived next to Some of these guys here? Good times!

We all know how fast a TW wish list adds up- have you ever tried to shop on a musky site for baits?  Sheesh.

Yeah I talk to people about fishing but quickly lose them when I start spouting off lures, brands, techniques. I like teaching people new things but sometimes I just want to chew the fat and talk fishing without teaching a new rig. Wait, now I know how you all feel about me!! Haha

We have younger folks on three sides as of a week ago.  All from India.  They see my garage and just wonder if I'm crazy.  I don't think I'm getting any new fishing buds.

After 20+ years of being a rental with a jerk of a landlord the house to my right just sold.  A great young couple pulled up in front of our house the other day and introduced themselves as the new owners. They were so polite in an old fashioned way that surprised me.  Even got their tan Lab out of the car and introduced him, lol.  Instant friends.

Shoot. Bass junkies are a dime a dozen in the southeast. If they are endangered apparently this is the refuge. 99% of all anglers have IT ALL ‘round here. I mean all of it, ten thousand TRDs, livescope, 250 hp....... the works. Lots of People who have been fishing 2-3 years frequently have all that and more

You could actually enhance their relationship by showing him 1/4 of your inventory.

He leaves your shop feeling like a success at a tender age and maybe offers you some free tackle. Lol
