I have a spinning reel, waiting for a rod... I have watched a few videos about attaching line to the reel and I think I have the knot down.  When attaching the line, does the "loop" of line have to start at the bottom of Spool?  It is sometimes hard to tell from the videos.

Thanks!

I prefer the tie to be in the middle of the spool what ever type of reel that I am putting line on.

The spool will move up and down. Make sure wherever you tie the knot, that the spool is in the correct position, be it bottom, top or anywhere in between.

Braid may slip using the arbor knot, mono/FC isn’t a issue.

It’s better. To put the reel on the rod, the line through the guides to spool line. Put thee filler spool on a mandrel (pencil works) with line coming off the bottom of the spool for spinning reels. Use your fingers to add slight line tension so the line goes on properly. Easy to do with reel on the rod.

PS, tie the knot in the middle of the spool, easier to do.

Kicker.... um, what is the correct position? Up or down???

If you situate your arbor knot in the middle, you never have to worry about finding an answer for this question.
