Thanks! That looks like it. I never thought a fish like that was in this lake. I also saw a crazy huge gold fish in there today. Cant tell from the pictures really but this gold fish is HUGE. The goldfish would not bite anything I had.

Could be a goldfish that got loose - or just a bright carp.

 

Goldfish, koi, carp - all the same family.

Put a 5/0 hook in that shiner and possible the big one hits that.

there are lots of koi in our city park pond, I am 99% sure that is a koi

Definitely a Golden Shiner. Idk about the exact species of the 'goldfish'

The fish you are holding in your hands is a golden shiner and the fish in the second picture is a koi. I have caught both species.
