DawsonH Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Motor has sat for 7 months. Owner has had carbs rebuilt, and new fuel pump. Wrong stabilizer used in gas. (Not marine version of stabil, just the red one). Owner is fine with test drive and me taking to mechanic to have looked over. What do I need to watch out far, or with this scenario if mechanic clears it am I good? Quote
TopDog Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Kind of a loaded question if you ask me. Sitting for 7 months is not too big of a deal. The Red stabil is better than no stabil. Up here everything sits for longer than that Pressure washers, lawn mowers. A good mechanic look over (and approval) and a test drive should suffice. How old is the motor? Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted November 6, 2009 Super User Posted November 6, 2009 What kind of boat is it? Just make sure it is not under powered, otherwise you will be unhappy with the performance. Quote
DawsonH Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 its rated up to 130, has a 115 this is on a 20 foot aluminum center console. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 I thought all 20' boats would carry a higher rating than that. I am not familiar with CC boats though. Good luck. Quote
DawsonH Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 If it was a g3 or an express it would, but it is an alumnacraft. Quote
