I pulled a 7lb bass out of a log jam with 12lb BG that had been wrapped around at least 2 6"+ dia limbs.  Had I been using 15lb InvizX im just about certain it would have broke just from the pressure I put on it not to mention the damage from abrasion.

Yeah, I've had fish wrap me around wood pilings and concrete stanchions in the salt with BG, where the line was shredded but held. I have to chuckle when I see "fluoro for abrasion resistance" recommended here and elsewhere.

I tried really hard to like Fluorocarbon but in the end threw it all in the trash can & went back to Big Game.

I'm still hanging in there with Big Game also. 12 to 15lb for my casting reels is what I've used for years now.

Big Game is on all my baitcasters and for good reason.

Consistently performs ,manages well and economical.

Iv’e found no reason to change and won’t unless they mess up the formula

They changed it a while back ('05-'07 if I remember correctly) and it was awful for a while. When they changed it back, it was never quite as good. I thought it was me, then I met quite a few folks who saw the same thing at the same time. Pure fishing's company line (pun intended) was that it's shelf life had expired, and no change in formulation had occurred.  Still very good, and 1/3 to 1/8 of the price of other similar lines.

Not surprised at all. Big Game is great line.

It definitely runs a bit thick for its lb test rating. I fish it a “size” down for such reasons. I believe the 10lb test has about a .012 diameter, so I typically fish Big Game 8lb for most 10lb applications....and it’s STILL a great line.

I remember that happening and I stopped using it for a few years.Started throwing  fc for a few years then found Sufix Siege and still use it today on my spinning reels mainly.

I’ve been unable to try copoly or Fluro because big game is just so cheap, convenient, and most importantly it’s strong and reliable. I always use KVD line and lure with it though.

I tried big game mono a few years ago. I think I put it on the reel wrong, because after 15 mins I took it off. It coiled badly and jumped off the spool.

Flash forward a few years and I wanted to try it again, this time a but more knowledgeable. I have one reel spooled with 10lb big game and the other with 15lb. So far so good, I must have spooled it wrong the first time. Strong line so far.

One thing I don't really get though... Everyone says big game stretches. But I set my drag to slip on a hard hook set, I can't imagine that it creates that much stretch. I have landed a few decent fish so far this year and can't say I felt this stretch being a huge deal. Still in the early testing phase but so far it seems fine.

BG is a salt water line designed to fight fish near it's limit. controlled stretch is built into it (and other salt water lines) as a way to dissipate sudden shock often found in those situations. Its like a bungee chord, not a rubber band, it will stretch a bit, then lock out at a certain tension.

Stretch isn't always a bad thing.
