I never really looked at this forum, but it seems James doesn't answer anyones question.

When he's not on tour he's pretty responsive from what I've seen. He's busy during tournament season.

Not really, but I guess he is busy. It doesn't take long to log in and check the forum though. But my job doesn't revolve around fishing for a living, so this is probably last on his to-do-list.

He is really a good man and always willing to help.
Never have know him to purposely shy away or ignore anyone who needs help.

I’d give him the benefit of the doubt.

Oh, alrighty then. My bad.

It takes significantly more time and effort to create, edit, and upload videos on YouTube, which he does regularly. He's not too busy to log into a forum and type something if he can do that. I think he's either forgotten about this place or lost interest.

Well, my thought is if Glen gives him this avenue, he should be thankful and participate more.

Been a super busy year...sorry for long delay in response.  Appreciate your patience.

Hi there Kicker...sorry for the long delay in response here.  Do you have a specific question in particular that you'd like me to respond to?

Put yourself in his shoes, and you’ll probably realize how they big are. I have 2 tweens, a mortgage, a boat, an aging father, needy in-laws…I could go on and I’m tired from day to day life. James does what he can and that’s all we can expect from him. You don’t see other Pros doing anything similar (that I know of) because real life is time consuming and he goes out of his way for this board. Be reasonable, he’s a good man.

If you consider how much goes into tournament fishing, the prefishing and preparation, the actual tournaments, sponsorship obligations, social obligations with BASS, family, just living life, you can't expect the man to be sitting around waiting to answer questions on the internet (for free and out of the goodness of his heart at that), at all times. He was pretty active last winter during the offseason. Personally, glad to have a pro here that is willing to participate and answer members questions in whatever capacity they're able to.

^^ This ^^

Nonetheless, I have removed the forum. The expectations - whether real or perceived - are causing problems.  And seeing members dog a pro as a result doesn't work for me.  If I were a pro and saw that, I wouldn't be interested in posting anything at all.

I always looked forward to what James would post here and didn't worry about time frame as I knew his schedule was hectic during tournament season...to see some members here diss him because of that just makes me wonder.

Me either. Always gave people on this forum more credit for being polite, friendly and grateful for any useful info being shared with them. I know I was grateful for any nuggets of experience James posted and expected it on his schedule, not ours. He also has a guiding business in addition to his pro career, and guiding is a tough, time-consuming gig.

Despite what some have said I always enjoyed James Q&As on the forums. I don't think he forgot about us, just busy being a pro bass fisherman.

Ya - it's not a 9-5 job with weekends off. Tournament weeks - you're probably talking 6-7 days straight of 10-12 hour days.

Travel

Meet-n-greets with fans, sponsors, newsies

Practice days

Pre-tournament kick-off events

Post-tournament events.

If you got tournaments 2 weeks in a row (like BASS has right now), you're talking 13-15 days straight without any time off if you make the cuts...only the guys who are below the lines get days off.

It looks like some people here expected too much from somebody that was giving free fishing advice. That is why it is best to be grateful for any fishing advice you get from an experienced fisherman.

I personally get all that. He's busy. He also doesn't owe us anything. I enjoy his YouTube content. But that's where the disconnect comes in for me. You're all giving him the excuse of being too busy, but as I said, it takes significantly more time to create, edit, and upload videos to YouTube, which he's been doing regularly. Why he has time to give advice the long way and not the short way (here) doesn't make any sense to me. Nobody can make that make sense to me. But here's the other thing: he doesn't owe any of us an explanation. I'm personally not upset by it at all. I personally understand the busy factor. I just can't make it make sense to me that there's time for YouTube though.

Like any other business decision: greater return on investment.

Because sometimes it's easier and more effective to demonstrate things on video, and he can monetize and control his content.

Probably because he's monetized his YouTube - they have ads, and those who opt in get a percentage of the ad revenue based on views...so his YouTube is a money-maker.

Unless you're a KVD, Martins, Evers, etc...you don't make all THAT much being a pro. Public info shows that James has made an average of 70k a year over his 14 year career. Raising a family plus all the travel means it's middle-class...so you make more where you can.
