flat Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 For those who've used both of these mh crankbait rods, are they similar, what are the differences, which do you prefer? I've used the avid extensively and am considering the Dobyns, for no other reason than the avid is not available. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted May 8, 2021 Super User Posted May 8, 2021 Both good quality rods, I found the SC to be a bit tip heavy and the Dobyns better balanced. Have not used an Avid in some time, but it just seemed heavy... Quote
Chaos10691 Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Which Dobyns? I have the Fury crank bait rod and couldn’t love it more. Quote

Super User WRB Posted May 8, 2021 Super User Posted May 8, 2021 SC has cork foregrip Dobyns doesn’t and the only reason I don’t use Dobyns rod, except swimbait models. Tom Quote

flat Posted May 8, 2021 Author Posted May 8, 2021 Good enough, I've got the dobyns and a bantam pg on the way- thanks for your input! Quote
flat Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 The DC705CB arrived yesterday and put the bantam on it. First impressions, it felt it was a little heavier than the avid. Similar blank properties, the epoxy on the guide wraps is much thicker on the dobyns. There were a few dabs of epoxy on the blank that my fingers felt and had to bring out the magnifier to make sure they weren't nicks. Overall it seems to be of similar quality. Quote
