Super User Darth-Baiter Posted May 7, 2021 Super User Posted May 7, 2021 I remember one of you saying purple gets them hooked. im gonna try. The margarita mayhem! A purple Robo worm. I can’t find the ridiculous bubble gum pink worm I was successful w last week. Sold out. gonna throw a grape at em. What a neat color and great name. Not sure I’d ever drink a margarita this color. 2 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted May 7, 2021 Super User Posted May 7, 2021 One of my very favourite worms! Purple and grape in any brand are killer! 2 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted May 7, 2021 Super User Posted May 7, 2021 Purple and all their variances have been my top color since the 70's . 4 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted May 8, 2021 Super User Posted May 8, 2021 One of the first two words my youngest daughter could say was purpo jig. Great color. 2 Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted May 8, 2021 Super User Posted May 8, 2021 Definitely a good color. MM III seems to work anywhere I remember to throw it. 2 Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 8, 2021 Super User Posted May 8, 2021 Roboworm MM is Margarita Mutilator, MMIII. Folkstad Spl is another good purple w/red. Tom 2 Quote
papajoe222 Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 This was my secret producer when everyone and their Uncle is throwing green pumpkin. Dip the tail in some red dye and I clean up behind them. 2 Quote
jtharris3 Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 The Electric Grape Berkley Power Worm works great for me. 2 Quote
Kenny Yi Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 No, purple does not work, no one should ever use purple for bass fishing, especially the Tequila Sunrise color. Leave those colors for me instead... 1 4 Quote
Fishin Dad Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Is Junebug purple enough to be considered purple? Seems like everyone and everything comes in that color? 1 Quote

If I'm not throwing green pumpkin I'm throwing June bug. 3 Quote
Smells like fish Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Purple always works! I just bought a couple packs of the purple Maxscent worms, I am excited to see those hanging outta a bass face soon! 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 8, 2021 Super User Posted May 8, 2021 In the 70’s I had purple tied on so often my buddies gave me the nick name “purple worm”. Jigs it was purple vinyl is final, color choices were easy back in the day as long as it was purple. Black grape /blue neon vain was the hot color during the 80’s. Upton’s Purple Thunder and black grape/blue neon are still my favorites in his 9” worms. Tom 2 Quote
Captain Phil Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Here in Florida, purple variation colored plastic worms have caught more bass than all the other artificial baits put together. There is no wrong way to fish them. If that is the only bait you ever used, you would catch enough fish to make you happy your entire life. 2 Quote
plawren53202 Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 Seems like purple, and specifically that tequila sunrise/morning dawn color, work especially well for me in low light conditions. Just last weekend, the last day of our crappie fishing trip was going to be overcast. I was at the tackle shop and saw some crappie jigs (Bobby Garland Baby Shad) in "Morning Dawn." Had never used that color for crappie. Sure enough, it was the ticket the next day. Interesting side note--those Bobby Garlands in Morning Dawn were the supposedly glow-in-the-dark "Mo Glo" series. They worked well enough for crappie that it made me wonder if there is anything comparable for bass. 2 Quote
Jaderose Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 My boat always has some Morning Dawn and Bubblegum Stik-O's in it. ALWAYS, 2 Quote

And I always like the grape color. My best with the Roboworms are Folstead Special, MM111, and Blk/Grape. All have worked well. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted May 8, 2021 Super User Posted May 8, 2021 I grew up fishing with Creme scoundrel plastic worms in grape color. That's the only color I would ever use. 4 Quote

I just caught this 3.64 lb bass a few days ago on a Mann’s Jelly Worm on a 3/0 EWG with a 1/8 oz tungsten bullet weight. It’s blackberry, which is like a real, dark, blackish purple. Great worms! 47 minutes ago, Captain Phil said: The Zoom Trick worm is a close second I like Zoom Mag II’s in purple. 2 1 Quote
